We take in unwanted or stray cats and kittens, ensure they receive necessary veterinary care and find them their purrfect forever homes. All of our cats are fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, snap tested for for FIV and FeLV, and up to date with flea and worming treatment. They also go to their new homes with a ‘Gotcha Day’ package to ensure as smooth transition to help them settle into the

ir new homes. We have a fantastic team of volunteers who work around the clock with the day to day care of the cats and kittens in our rescue and have amazing vet support from Oaks Veterinary Centre, Cotteridge. Wellcat relies solely on donations, fundraising, volunteers and a supportive community. It is only through their continued dedication that the charity can continue running and helping hundreds of cats and kittens each year. This little cutie is Squirrel, one of our volunteer’s cats. Squirrel is 3 years old now but is soo tiny! 🥹♥️

As she has purrfected her loaf skills, we just have to give her a 10/10!

Travis update 😺

As mentioned previously, we’ve had some tough, long-term cases in rescue this year. Travis is one of them and if you have followed his journey so far, you’ll know this poor boy has had everything against him. This boy has battled fleas, Lice, mange, malnourishment, worms, digestive problems and dental disease and more.

But don’t worry, all is well! It has taken months of flea and worming treatments, vet visits, veterinary foods and lots and lots of TLC to get him to this point. But on his long journey of health, he is now finally able to go into foster with two of our loving volunteers.

We will of course update you all on how he is doing but for now, he temporarily leaves us with this photo. We just love how he looks at us with so much gratitude and affection! 🥹♥️

£1 day goes to general funds to help keep the rescue running. It’s can be used for veterinary foods, veterinary care, repairs (which we are desperately dealing with at the moment), pretty much everything we need to keep us running. £1 day is an ideal way to raise general funds. We have over 5k followers, just think how much we could raise if only 25% of people joined in 🥳 so, look out for future £1 days, pop it in your diary, set up a standing order, let’s make £1 day count.

Pixie and Dottie update! 😺😺

Here at Wellcat, we’ve had some tough long-term cases this year which has taken effect on cats coming in and going off to their forever homes.

Pixie and Dottie have been with us for several months now and we would like to share with you their fantastic transformation, although they are still not quite ready to leave us yet.

When they first arrived, they were absolutely petrified and totally unhandleable but after weeks and weeks of patience and special care from our wonderful volunteers, they’ve both become very affectionate girls and have really bonded with people now. Pixie will meow at you for fuss whereas Dottie has adapted a cuter way to get our attention by nudging us with her head. They’re both just too cute!

Sadly, Pixie had also developed a condition called Eosinophillic Granuloma Complex, which is basically an inflammatory skin condition that affected her lip and it looked like her lip has peeled several layers. With many thanks to the amazing Oaks Veterinary Centre, she was quickly diagnosed and treated. She’s healing well but is not out of the woods just yet as she’s still undergoing treatment that has almost completed now.

So what happens now?
We’ve got to wait a couple of months to see if Pixie’s condition has completely gone and hopefully get the all clear from the vets. When the time comes, these girls will need an extra special home, who will be patient and understanding of their timid natures and give them plenty of time to settle in and bond with them.

Cats need us now more than ever before and here’s why......

We are in the midst of a major cat crisis here in England. All rescues and even vets are inundated, we just can't cope with the demand. The amount of strays and unwanted cats at the moment equal that to the population of Southampton and that number is growing.

How can you help?

✋ Stop the breeding, neuter your cats and adopt, don't shop.

🐈‍⬛ Volunteer at your local rescue and if you can't volunteer, maybe support us in other ways.

🏠 Could you foster? We are running out of room. Could you offer your home temporarily as a kitty foster carer?

📢 Contact your local MP. We need to start making noise now as advocates of these animals who are being left to starve, thrown away like used handbags. Cats giving birth outside, kittens dying in the streets. This is England, are we not a country of animals lovers? Make some noise! Get some petitions going, ask for help stop this problem. Rescues need help because we are battling to get control of this situation and we are losing!

We are turning away cat after cat daily and it’s heartbreaking. Please, we are appealing to the public to help us.

Whilst he’s been poorly, his best friend, Lorenzo, has been by his side and giving him lots of healing cuddles and purrs. 🥰

Now that Jared is all back to normal, he’s making up for lost time and taking every opportunity to start playing with Lorenzo again. Poor Lorenzo can’t even go to the toilet without Jared trying to start a playful tackle! 😹but Lorenzo has certainly missed this play time!😺😺

He’s only gone and FIP-ing beat FIP!!!

Yes, you heard that right, Jared has officially finished treatment and won his battle against FIP! 🥳😺

Jared couldn’t have done it without the incredible support and the generous donations towards his treatment and we are entirely grateful and happy to say that this boy now gets to live his life.

It’s 😺

This little cutie is Blair, one of Bryony’s kittens. 😻

All of our cats and kittens are handled multiple times daily but young kittens require even more handling to help them become the cuddly, loving cats you adopt. We think Blair is simply purrfect. ♥️

Bryony’s kittens aren’t quite ready to start looking for their forever homes yet as they will soon be beginning vaccinations and neutering (when old enough), but stay tuned for more updates! 😺

Happy Caturday and Bank Holiday weekend with love from a very purry Travis 😻♥️

We have been growing cat grass for the rescue kitties and here is Sammy’s first reaction. 😺 Thank you to the kind supporter who donated some in one of our supermarket drop off locations! ♥️

For those of you who were following this poor guy, meet Travis. You'll be happy to hear that Travis has tested negative for FIV and FeLV. We don't know anymore at this time as we don't want to do too much too soon. He will be going back to the vets in a few days for some blood tests, it may be a while before we can castrate him though as he is very frail. But in the meantime he has been bathed and is safe. Here's a little video we put together to start his new journey. Rescued means to a better place. ♥️

Jared update.❣️ Wonderful news to report today for Jared's daily update. Previously his temperature has stayed around 39.9, it has been higher! But not today folks. Today we've seen an incredible turn around his temperature today is a fantastic 38! He looks bright and alert. He is trying to eat without help and if course, he is purring. We are all sooooo happy. 😺 He still is unable to see and he certainly isn't out of the woods yet, but to see him looking so much brighter is just amazing. This is all down to you guys and Tito's fund. We hope you had a lovely bank holiday weekend. ♥️ Yesterday was a busy one for us! Whilst many people were enjoying the lovely sun, we were battling to keep Jay cool with ice, fans and cooling towels. Whilst the some of the team were caring for Jay, others were having a garden clean up. Ginny thought it was a fun game joining in with the sweeping so we took a moments break to let her play with the brush. 😹
