Wellcat Rescue

Wellcat Rescue Wellcat Rescue is a registered charity (518860). Wellcat is a small rescue and charity (518860) based in Frankley, Birmingham.

We take in unwanted or stray cats and kittens, ensure they receive necessary veterinary care and find them their purrfect forever homes. All of our cats are fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, snap tested for for FIV and FeLV, and up to date with flea and worming treatment. They also go to their new homes with a ‘Gotcha Day’ package to ensure as smooth transition to help them settle into the

ir new homes. We have a fantastic team of volunteers who work around the clock with the day to day care of the cats and kittens in our rescue and have amazing vet support from Oaks Veterinary Centre, Cotteridge. Wellcat relies solely on donations, fundraising, volunteers and a supportive community. It is only through their continued dedication that the charity can continue running and helping hundreds of cats and kittens each year. We now run our visiting times by appointment only, so please email us prior to visiting to book an appointment. [email protected]

Slaughter without pre-stunning is an issue we’ve been campaigning on for many years because of the serious welfare implications and suffering it causes.

At present, this method of slaughter is often hidden behind vague or unclear product labelling.

We believe shoppers deserve clear, honest labels so they can make informed choices and support higher animal welfare standards.

If you agree, call on the UK government by signing this petition: https://bit.ly/4qYNG33

Please don't forget the foxes and other small animals out there in this cold weather. Cat food is really great for foxes and they do love a raw egg 🦊 If leaving water out, pop a ping pong ball in the bowl to stop the water from freezing.

How's your New Year going? We would like to introduce you to our first rescue cat of the year.

This little guy was rushed to the Oaks vets on New Year’s Eve after being hit by a car. Thankfully a kind couple saw the accident and stopped to help. They quickly set about finding the injured kitty. It didn’t take long as he was frantically trying to run but was unable to walk. He was also struggling to breathe, so they rushed him straight to Oaks Vets.

The vets began treatment immediately and contacted us to arrange a rescue space. This poor little fella is battered and bruised everywhere, including injuries to his lungs, and the vets also suspect a fractured pelvis 😿

He is safe now and resting at Wellcat. Next week, as long as his breathing continues to improve, he will return to the vets for sedation so they can carry out further X-rays and treatment. Keep an eye out for updates as we follow his journey.
Thanks to the kindness of two strangers and the incredible team at Oaks Vets, this little dude is alive. He has a long road ahead of him, but I doubt he’ll walk it alone. Come on, little guy — you’ve got this
