We are a veterinary service dedicated to providing high quality care for exotic species, wildlife and zoo animals.

Our Edgbaston branch houses our exotics service and has been refurbished to a high standard with purpose-built separate hospital wards for exotic mammals, birds and reptiles, designated isolation facilities and handling equipment designed to manage non-domestic species safely. Our on-site laboratory, xray and ultrasound facilities allow rapid assessment and management of cases. Our veterinary and

nursing staff are fully trained to deal with a huge variety of non-traditional species. The 24 hour service provided by Manor Vets includes emergency care of exotic species and we have vets available at all times. Our exotics vets work with animals such as;

🐓 💖 🐓

So, we've been a bit quiet on our socials lately and that's because we've been hella busy and we're hoping to update you over the next few days.

One thing that happened last week was that we very nearly lost Rod Stewart. He began, very quickly, displaying difficultly breathing, panting as he exhaled.

Thankfully, Manor Exotics Edgbaston have an amazing team of exotic vets and veterinary nurses, and miraculously, they pulled him back from the brink after a lot of hard work. As he began to improve faster than anyone could have anticipated, the vets were happy to discharge him with intensive aftercare.

We spent the night watching over him and the next day he was wolfing down food and slowly his voice began returning. 2 days later we headed back over to the vets for a full discharge.

It really was a long and upsetting day as the vets worked hard to save him but save him they did. He is still on a course of meds but he's getting stronger every minute and I've never been so happy to be pecked by him 💓

Rod's treatment came to just over a £1000 so if anyone can help towards this cost we would be extremely grateful. Even a £1 would help us clear this bill.

Our Exotic Vet & Avian Specialist Mikel, alongside Exotic Nurse Annabel, looked after a Stork for an anaesthetic procedure for a condition known as Bumble Foot.
Here you can see we use a variety of equipment to monitor exotic animals under an anaesthetic, different techniques are also used on various parts of the body to monitor accurately 🤍💛

The exotics team are based in Birmingham, at our RCVS accredited Edgbaston clinic, which holds the prestigious Rabbit Welfare Association Silver Plus award. The team have years of experience treating exotic pets and also provide veterinary services for zoological collections and aquariums across the West Midlands. The Edgbaston clinic has been refurbished specifically to cater for the varying needs of exotics species and includes:

In house laboratory offering haematology, biochemistry, urinalysis, faecal analysis, microscopy and tank/pond water analysis.

Full surgical suite with facilities for soft tissue, orthopaedic and ophthalmic surgery as well as a separate dental suite and advanced anaesthetic monitoring equipment.

Spacious reception with a separate waiting area for exotic pets.

Our Exotics team looked after this beautiful Stork whilst undergoing a quick anaesthetic for an abscess removal on its foot.
After our Exotic Head Nurse, Faye, placed a catheter, the foot area was given a clean & the Stork received some fluids before the procedure

After the procedure, Wizz has been carefully monitored during the recovery in our designated Reptile Ward & was able to go home later that day 🐍

Chinese Water Dragon, Cali 💚 Listen as we monitor Cali’s heart under anaesthetic 💚 The very impressive Cali has been in with us for an oral mass removal procedure 💚 We use various methods & techniques to be certain that we can closely monitor reptiles under anaesthetic procedures. Our Exotic Head Nurse Faye & RVN Mandy looked after Cali whilst our Exotic Vet Mikel continued with the procedure 💚 After a short surgery, Cali was moved into our specially designed Reptile Ward for recovery monitoring & received lots of TLC 💚

Pixie

Welcome Pixie 🤎 The most adorable Meerkat Pixie came in for an ultrasound to determine why she hadn’t been eating 🤎 The ultrasound showed that Pixie had a mass in her reproductive urinary system so the Exotics team decided to operate to remove the mass 🤎 After a successful surgery, here is Pixie enjoying her recovery food. We’re so pleased to see her eating & comfortable after her procedure 🤎

Blossoms Heart 🐢

Tortoise Laparoscopic Spay 🐢 We welcomed the beautiful 72 year old Blossom this morning for her Laparoscopic Spay with our Exotic team here at Edgbaston. Our Reptile Surgeon Jack & our Exotic Head Nurse Faye looked after Blossom before, during & after her procedure 🐢 A laparoscopic spay is an alternative & less invasive approach to female neutering 🐢 We use various monitoring equipment to detect the heart under anaesthetic. Here you can listen to Blossoms heart 🐢

🦜 Parrot Awareness Week 🦜 Here at Manor Exotics we are as dedicated to your feathered friends as you are. That’s why we have a designated Avian Ward to@make your bird buddies as comfortable as possible 💚🦜

We were delighted to have Muffin in with us, she was so cute & super brave 🤎🧡 Muffin spent the day with us for a procedure to remove a stone which had formed around the bladder. Here she is enjoying her pepper 🤎🧡 After her procedure, Muffin was moved into our recovery ward, given a lot of TLC & food before going home later that evening.

We 😍 Kiki 💙💚❤️ Kiki is a 3 year old Green Winged Macaw & has been in with us for fluid therapy. We’ve loved having Kiki with us, she is such a character & a real sweetheart. Here she is settling into our Avian Ward ❤️💚💙
