General information
A 'Local Resilience Forum' (LRF) is a forum formed in a police area of the United Kingdom by key emergency responders and specific supporting agencies. It is a requirement of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 (CCA). The West Midlands Conurbation is made up of seven metropolitan councils (Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton) covering an area of 348 square miles. It borders three counties: Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Worcestershire. The West Midlands Conurbation Local Resilience Forum (WMCLRF) is the statutory multi agency partnership set up to ensure the local authorities, emergency services and environment agency in partnership with other organisations such as gas and water companies fulfil their duties under the CCA 2004. This act is important because it establishes a consistent level of civil protection planning and preparation activity between these responders across the UK. In addition to the WMCLRF membership comprising of Category one and two responders, the military and voluntary organisations are also represented.
