We caught this photo of Juno showing how unimpressed he was after being wormed with panacur wormer! 🫒 It's not the nicest but they soon get over it and it's all for their own good! Their mother Josie was a stray and had a lot of worms whilst pregnant with them. She had to be treated twice to get rid of them!

Worming cats and young kittens in particular is a basic need for their health and wellbeing because they are very susceptible and vulnerable to worms which can cause serious health problems if not treated.

Regular veterinary recommended worming helps prevent these issues and contributes to ensuring kittens grow up healthy and strong 🧑

Mumma Josie and kittens are all doing well and kittens are growing up fast! πŸ₯°πŸ˜Ί

Meet Butterfly πŸ¦‹

This little beauty came into us a week ago after she was supposedly found in someone's garden alone with no siblings or mother around 😒. She was about 7/8 weeks on arrival and aside from being a little underweight she seems fairly healthy.

Butterfly is very clearly used to humans so has been well socialised 🧑
She is very friendly and sweet and a typical playful kitten full of energy!

Butterfly is showing signs of 'single kitten syndrome' which means they don't always show appropriate play behaviours and can bite and scratch because they aren't able to focus these behaviours and put into practice play boundaries and bite inhibition.

Kittens thrive with their litter mates - supporting their behavioural and social development! πŸ’―
They learn from each other, provide each other entertainment and enrichment, provide comfort in friendship and can focus play aggression with each other instead of us humans! πŸ™Œ

So, we are hoping to introduce Butterfly to our other lone kitten Ladybug 🐞 very soon 🀞 Ladybug is also showing single kitten behaviours too.
Little Ladybug is slightly older and has now been spayed and is due to complete her vaccination course.

❓So, what's the wait? It is important like with any new cat/kitten that Butterfly completes a minimum of two weeks isolation/incubation and has a vet check to be health checked, blood tested and start her vaccines before we introduce them together to ensure she is healthy and hopefully not carrying any nasty diseases or parasites she could pass on.

We will keep you updated on their progress 🀞

Let's hope these two beauties can hit it off and become the best of bugsπŸ¦‹πŸž- oops, we mean buds! πŸ˜…πŸ€

β€οΈβ€πŸ©ΉIt is with a heavy heart that we share the news of Mary rabbits passing 🐰
Mary sadly passed away this week πŸ˜”πŸ’”

πŸ«‚Mary had ongoing respiratory problems which she regularly received veterinary treatment for ⚘️ We recently made the decision for Mary and Josephine to become resident rabbits due to their ongoing health problems πŸ’œWe are pleased that Mary found her forever home with us here at the sanctuary and received all of the love and care that she needed πŸ’–

πŸ‡Mary was such a beautiful, loving girl. She will be very missed 😒. We are keeping a close eye on her friend Josephine and putting plans into place to support her ❀️🧑

🀍Fly high, beautiful Mary ~ we will miss you β€οΈβ€πŸ©ΉπŸ©·πŸ©΅πŸ§‘

πŸ•πŸ§‘Cherry-pie Update🐾

Cherry is a bulldog who has what is known as a 'corkscrew tail' meaning her tail is malformed and inverted!
With the skin folds this creates, the area can easily become infected without careful management and cleaning, but even with management some dogs, like Cherry, with this condition may still need veterinary intervention.

It took us a while to be able to handle Cherry as she was so scared and wary coming to us after being found as a stray. When we finally gained her trust and we were able to check her over better we found Cherry's tail pocket was quite irritated, sore and very dirty!
We have been cleaning the area and trying to keep it as comfortable for her as we can but it is always full of dirt and quite itchy and irritating for her, because of this she will often irritate it further by trying to itch it!

After speaking to our vets we feel the best option for Cherry is to see if they are able to operate to remove some of the skin folds and tail to try and alleviate her discomfort 🧑
It is not a decision we make lightly but as it is irritated, it is affecting Cherry and could potentially lead to an infection πŸ˜“
Cherry is booked in for her operation next week with our amazing vets! Please keep her in your thoughts and we hope for a speedy recovery 🀞🏼🀞🏼

If any of our kind supporters would like to help towards Cherry and our rescue dogs ongoing care and vet bills we would be so grateful πŸ™πŸΌπŸ§‘

🐾 OPEN DAY 2025- 23rd August 11-3pm 🐾

We are hoping that third time is a charm!
We debated about rearranging this Open Day as our supporters have been so patient and understanding when we had to cancel the last two arranged dates but this event means such a lot to the Sanctuary. We love opening our doors to all our wonderful supporters and showing the work we do and the beautiful animals in our care looking for homes 🧑

We really hope lots of you will be able to make it!

British weather- please be kind to us! πŸ˜…

Thank you so much for all your continued support, it means more to us than we could ever express! 🧑

Tongue out Tuesday with Tommy πŸ˜‹πŸ˜»

Beautiful mature boy Tommy showing how adorable he is whilst waiting for his forever home! πŸ’™

Tommy is an ex stray who was left to fend for himself for quite some time until he was helped by a kind lady 🧑 He is around 8 years old and is a big softie!
Tommy has adapted so well since coming to the sanctuary back in February this year and we feel he will really thrive in a home of his own πŸ‘€πŸ‘

This handsome boy is so sweet and loving and really deserves to find his forever humans πŸ₯°πŸ™

πŸ“Œ Please read more about Tommy and the home he is looking for on our website....https://www.wythallanimalsanctuary.org/cats/tommy
