Our custom aviaries have finally been delivered and are slowly but surely being erected. Our Blue Orpington's are certainly enjoying their new outdoor enclosure! These aviaries will give our birds a much more enjoyable time as they wait out avian flu season ๐
THATS A WRAP!! On Sheldon Spook Night 2022
We hope all of you who attended our Carnevil fundraiser evening had lots of frightening fun! ๐คก As most of you will know, we are open 7 days a week, free of charge, so fundraising events such as the one we held last night are vital for allowing us to make improvements to the site.
We would also like to say big thank you to all the local businesses who donated goodies towards the event ๐ฌ
This here is Henry. We just wanted to reassure you all that despite his very convincing performance, he is neither dead nor dying ๐ He takes great joy in sunbathing when the weather is hot, scaring our visitors that he is of ill health in the process! ๐
You may see our other birds doing this from time to time. They are either sunning themselves or giving themselves a dust bath ๐

Barn Cleanout day.
Barn cleanout day - Removing all the bedding from the cow section which has built up over several months. This job used to be done by hand but now thanks to the tractor it's much easier. The straw bed was about 12 inches deep and very heavy to lift even with the tractor. It is also very hot in the middle due to the straw rotting down, hence the steam, and quite smelly also as you can imagine, great for digging into the garden, particularly if you have a clay soil. Once removed fresh straw was put in.
Idearly it could have been deeper, Yes!
Young ducklings enjoying their first swim, sound effects courtesy of Ken , & Vic. Sorry about the video angle, can't seem to figure out how to turn it, so just turn your monitor round simples! :)
