😺Thinking of getting a cat?😺

They are amazing animals that can bring a lot of personality with them!

It’s important to do your research. Here are some things to consider before getting a cat.

🐾 Bear in mind that not all cats are cuddly or lap cats.

🐾 Consider your home and whether you need to take steps to ensure your cat’s safety outside, as well as other animals you may have in your home.

🐾 Carefully consider which breed(s) would be right for you and your home environment and research potential health concerns

🐾 Ensure you have everything you need to provide for the cat, such as food, water, scratching posts and a litter tray.

🐾Take it slow when introducing your new cat to your home and any other pets you might have. Bear in mind that some cats prefer to live without other cats or pets in the home.

🥳 Happy New Year! 🥳

It's been celebration time over the last couple of weeks at Second Nature.

We've been spending time with family, eating our weight in Christmas food and spoiling the furry and feathered friends in our homes. 🎅🐶

But it's good to be back!

We can't wait to serve even more pet parents over the coming year.

I'm sure the cameras were out over the festive period, and we'd love to see what you got up to.

🎆Helping Your Pet Cope During Fireworks 🎇

Fireworks can be distressing for many animals, so here’s how to help:

Before Fireworks Begin:

🏠Stay Close: Avoid leaving your pet alone during fireworks—they’ll feel safer with you nearby.

🛋 Settle Indoors Early: Aim to be indoors before dark. Avoid forcing your pet outside during loud displays.

💊 Medications & Safety: If prescribed, give any medication early. Also, ensure your home and garden are secure, as scared dogs may try to escape.

🎆During Fireworks:

💥 Minimise Sights & Sounds: Block out flashes with curtains and mask sounds with music or TV.

🐕 Follow Your Pet's Lead: Let them hide if they want to, or calmly offer comfort if they seek it. If they’re unfazed, keep them engaged with toys or treats.

😌 Stay Calm: Pets sense your emotions, so try to be relaxed and avoid scolding for any accidents.

To help your pets tackle their firework fears, get in touch 📞 to see how we can help! 😊
