Does anyone remember lovely Laddie the old dog we couldn’t help but step in to help?

Well the loveliest lady stepped up to help him and he’s officially been with her a whole month now and here is an update for you all 🥰

‘Laddie is settling well in his new home now he's found his way about. He sleeps a lot, and he's a bit stiff when he first wakes, but he races around on an extending lead when we go to the park. As you can see, he's needed a coat it's been so cold, and he soon got used to me putting it on. The other photo shows him up to mischief. He remembered where I'd left a titbit and helped himself! A visitor managed to snap him before he got down trying to look like Mr Innocent.’

Paws up for Laddie 🥰🐾

Introducing the Holywood babies who are all half Mainecoon 😍
Though this all sounds cute and fun these poor babies were very blessed in finding a lovely lady to help them all, all because an irresponsible owner wouldn’t neuter his cat. Here is the story:-

Middle of last year we were contacted with concerns over a ginger Mainecoon by multiple people who were worried about him and the was he visibly looked, we were sent videos of him yowling and howling throughout the night and we couldn’t understand why anyone would leave behind such an expensive breed of cat (as multiple home owners believe he was a stray), this is where I started to suspect he wasn’t left behind and had to of been owned.

During this same time one of the ladies who had concerns about the ginger Mainecoon was also looking after 2 cats she believed were feral and wanted to keep/care for them, so responsibly started gaining their trust to get them neutered, until a couple weeks later one came in her house and dropped a litter of kittens and 2 days later so did the other cat, after a couple of days both mother cats then decided to remove the kittens from the home and go into hiding and then weren’t seen for weeks. At this point I went with my scanner and passed it onto her to scan the Mainecoon when he next came to her house where she explained the other situation that was occurring with these mother cats & kittens.

Eventually the mother cats both turned up again and along followed all their babies and the lovely lady sent me photos of them where I very VERY quickly realised who the dad was going to be based on the fact over half were ginger or had ginger in them and one was literally a mini Maine-coon (bet you can guess which one that is🤣).

My suspicions were then further confirmed when a couple days later I was being sent photos of the mother cats allowing this MASSIVE ginger tom Mainecoon cat to lay and hang around all their babies, knowing normally a mother cat would fight something like that off to protect her young. It was all making complete sense. This is when the lady was able to scan the big lad and we were able to contact the owner.

When speaking with the owner, he sounded sorry to a certain extent and started with the excuses of why his cat wasn’t yet neutered. To which I accepted his reasons and kindly asked that should he choose not to neuter his cat to maybe keep him in until he was willing to (as he had said he was planning on). He then explained he worked away from home and when he was back he’d love to come and see the kittens. I agreed to this purely because it was getting close to bringing them into rescue and the kittens were starting to really suffer with flu and I was hoping if he saw them poorly it might push him to understand why neutering is important.

Days went on and between me and the lady plans were put in place to get the kittens when old enough to leave momma into rescue, from there the lady was going to keep the two mother cats & 2 kittens, 1) to help us and 2) she had become very fond of them and I knew she’d keep to her word in getting them all sorted.

The day came and though it took a couple hours we managed to get them through a lot of claws, hisses and growls. Though they were born in the house they still grew up feral but did have some knowledge of humans just not strangers…. Me🤣

Eventually the man did come to visit and I left the conversation genuinely believing him and his partner felt bad for what had happened, they told me they held their hands up, accepted responsibility and were going to keep their cat in until he was neutered which was going to be very soon… well that was all lies and to this day nearly 7 months later he’s still roaming around the same area, unneutered howling and venturing looking for cats to mate with. We also know health wise there is something wrong and this once sweet cat is now attacking people and getting angry… time and time I have emailed this owner and of course I’m met with the sound of silence, even tried to explain how one day his cat could potentially hurt and injure the wrong person and the outcome might not be as understanding as this lady is being with him.

This lady in total has spend over £2000 on helping and sorting these kittens that werent even her responsibility at first because ONE PERSON COULDNT NEUTER THEIR CAT, one of the kittens she kept needed an eye removed as the flu had affected his little eyes so bad, she donated to us to help us, she then responsibly helped and sorted the other kitten she kept, the two mother cats and unfortunately we had a message last month to say another mother has appeared out the woodworks with kittens again ginger and clearly fathered by him…

It’s heart breaking however between me and this lady we’ve helped saved all the first 2 families and will be going back soon for the next one. It’s a shame we can’t help the daddy cat but legally we just cannot touch him to neuter or to even have him health checked for some explanation on this now reoccurring unpredictable behaviour he’s showing, yet daily he’s still turning up to her house, crying for food and resting on her couch… and she can’t turn him away… because she actually cares😢.

Anyway with that, meet the Holywood Babies 💜

This was beautiful Simba and her family who were signed over to us after we found out her kittens were being sold on Facebook for free we had to step in to help get these babies homes ourselves responsibly & sensibly. Whilst there is was then decided that the family didn’t have time for momma cat either so with that we took her too.

Unfortunately there was something wrong with little black kitten and the vet fought for him so badly to survive and we unfortunately lost him 😭 we then nearly lost Simba after she reacted badly to her spaying however she pulled through and her remaining kittens thrived and all happily found their new homes. It was a wonderful ending 🐾💜
