Join our social walks on Tuesdays at 12 in Pishiobury Park and 10am Saturdays. Our Walks are a fabulous way to access help from our qualified trainers without committing to a weekly group class. A mix of a social get-together and ‘class on the go’, not a free for all, means you get to help your dog relax around others and enjoy their company, whilst still fully engaging with you in the great outdoors. Join us for a training top up, to get advice on issues, encourage calmness around others or help increase focus on you - and any age of dog can join, from puppies to oldies. They are also very effective at helping reactive dogs relax in their environment. Walks are £15 each and are booked as and when you want to come along. If you are a current or previous client call 07881 552559 or email [email protected] to book. If you are new to DOGability please call Adrienne on 07881 552559, before booking, to chat about your dog and what you want help with so we can ensure this is the right place to start your journey with us.

What’s the Difference Between a Licensed Boarding Kennel and a Licensed Home Dog Boarder? 🐾

A boarding kennel is a purpose-built facility where dogs stay in individual kennels. It’s great for dogs that enjoy being around others, with structured routines and plenty of space for exercise.

A home dog boarder cares for dogs in their own home, offering a cosy, family-style environment. It’s ideal for dogs that prefer a quieter, more personalised setting.

Both must be licensed by the local council, so your dog’s care and safety are always a priority. Choose the option that best suits your dog’s needs and personality!

Dog Parents,

With the run-up to Christmas getting closer we are seeing more and more people trying to find suitable accommodation for their dogs at short notice.

It's so important to remember boarding or day caring for a dog without a licence is against the law and that any insurance an unlicensed business has will be invalid.

But that's not the only reason you should choose a licensed, home dog boarder.

Here are just a few reasons why licensed is the correct choice for your dog. Licensed dog care providers......

✅ MUST have comprehensive risk evaluations by the council for your dog's safety;
✅ MUST be limited by the council on the number of dogs they can care for at any one time.
✅ MUST undergo property inspections to ensure safety and uphold best practices.
✅ MUST have strict protocols for cleanliness, safety, and disease control
✅ MUST continue to learn to keep their skills updated (CPD)
✅ Strive further to guarantee your dog's safety, happiness, and overall well-being

Obtaining a licence for dog daycare or boarding isn't a walk in the park let me tell you!

This is why selecting a licensed provider ensures peace of mind, knowing they've committed to excellence.

Good advice!

Good advice!

The leaves have changed, there’s a chill in the air and we’ve swapped our sunglasses for raincoats. Autumn is officially here 🍂

While you’re ready for muddy walks and wrapping up warm, are your pets? Check out below what to look out for this season and tips for keeping your pet safe & healthy 🍁

🍄‍🟫 Poisonous plants - conkers, acorns and mushrooms are among the list of plants that could harm our pets if ingested. If you suspect your pet has eaten any toxic plants, contact your vet immediately for advice.
🍂 Fallen leaves & fruits - ingesting these can cause tummy upset or worse, as old leaves turn mouldy they contain mycotoxins and rotten fruit will eventually ferment and contain poisonous ethanol.
🪲 Mites & fleas - in the autumn, Harvest mites climb up the long grass waiting for a warm-blooded host. Signs of infestation include skin inflammation and scratching. Turning the heating up can also prompt flea eggs to be ‘woken up’, so ensure both your pets and home are treated.
🌙 Darker nights - keep your pets visible with reflective or light up collars & leads, and ensure outdoor cats are safe at home once it’s dark. Have your torch at the ready to be able to thoroughly check on your outdoor small furries like rabbits, and remember to ensure their enclosures are warm enough as the cold sets in.
🎃 Pumpkins & candles - make sure to throw out old pumpkins before they go mouldy to prevent sickness if eaten. Consider battery powered candles over real flames or keep any lit candles and small decorations out of reach of mischievous pets.
🍬 Halloween sweets - remember chocolate is highly toxic for dogs and many treats contain the poisonous sweetener Xylitol. Dogs can also get spooked by our scary costumes, so consider walking earlier in the day before the trick or treater’s are out.
💥Fireworks - these often make our pets stressed & anxious. You can make a safe den to hide in at home and work on desensitising your pets by playing fireworks noises quietly while rewarding calm behaviour.
