Still life and tricks in the old man yet 😍🐾❤️

Doogle is today 12 years 11 months, 2 weeks, and 3 days old and I absolutely cannot cope with the fact he is really slowing down , losing his sight and hearing it's killing me 🥲💔💔 BUT he still thinks he's a puppy and 100% still has some life left in him yet!

Thankyou to Tom SGS Gardening Service who came and replaced my side garden gate and fence!

The whole thing was rotted and the posts were completely collapsed the gate was far too big and being bolted into a hole in the wall so this has been replaced with a piece of wood now (we still need to paint) but it's a lovely Job with a proper lock and handle on and safe and sturdy for the kids to Come in and out of!

The pictures do not do it justice at all, he was so efficient and such a hardworking young lad who is just starting out building a brand new business and doing a fantastic job!

Reasonably priced and did the job in a couple of hours In the rain didn't let the weather bother him at all.

Thanks Tom he will be back soon to build us some decking!

**WALK UPDATES**

Please can anyone who is scheduled for a walk tomorrow please check your messages I have sent you all one!

I will not be taking any dogs out tomorrow after 10am as the temperature is set to be 21 around just after that time it is too hot and dangerous so will not be risking it.

I will drop in and make sure they have water and do their business in the garden If you allow plus have a little bit of water play too if you choose!

30 minutes is £10 if anyone would like to book in please message me!

Please see the below for temperature advice with dogs and also PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR DOG IN THE CAR FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME IN THIS HEAT!

Not posted for a while I've decided I'd rather keep the dogs safe and spend majority of my time watching them than having my phone out 🤣🙈

So here's a few snippets ....some clients don't want there dogs on social media also which is totally fine I just send them directly to them!

I have still got a few spaces mon and Thurs mornings and also for home visits for small furries , elderly dogs and puppies or just to administer medication if needed!

30 minutes £8 local to bb24 area only for further locations 60 min minimum for drop ins!

Before I start work again next week I just wanted to reflect on a few things!

As dog lovers most of you will know what it means to own and love a dog they are just like your children/family and take a massive place in your heart and home.

For me this is the BEST thing about my Job because your fur babies are treated no different to my own in fact likely more that they become like one of my own , my little sidekicks, best mates all with their own quirks which I work so hard to keep as it makes them unique and every dog is different.

So the other end of the spectrum that no one reminded me about when I started this business was the much sadder side of it , sometimes dogs don't need us anymore due to their owners changing work , moving away etc and that's always hard when you've got used to them and them you but also the fact that some of your fur babies will sadly pass away 😥😥 some of them with old age and some unexpectedly 😢😢😢

Since I started Furrytail Trails sadly I have had now 4 of my doggies (that have been in my care at some point) pass away and that for me has been very upsetting and of course for their owners too 😢

So here is a tribute to my mates Phoebe, Finn and Jasper (Finsper I used to call them two 🤣🙈😍) who passed last year and most recently whilst I've been on leave.

THANKYOU for giving me the most joyful Job, challenging me , helping me to become a better person and growing my business.

And for giving me all the love, licks and kisses I will miss you thankyou to the owners for trusting me with your most precious cargo and I'm so sorry for your losses I hope you can remember the good time's and the amazing lives you gave them!

Its not about the size of the paw it's about the size of the print it leaves behind 🐾🐾🐾🌈

OK guys so whilst everyone else is finishing work for Christmas I'm organising going back to work for 2024 after extended maternity leave!

My beautiful girl Ayla will be with me the majority of my working hours just like my now 6 year old used to be before he started school nearly 3 years ago!

I now have 4 puppies and 3 of my old clients booked back in so my slots are filling VERY QUICKLY I don't have many left and lunchtime slots (12-1pm) are ALL FULL! please please let me know if you are thinking of booking in with me or thinking of having a new member of the family in 2024 then we can discuss holding a slot for you!

"The art of training a dog owner.

Dog owner tells me: Hi, my dog pulls on the leash and runs into the woods after deer if I let it off leash.

Me: Okay. What's the breed?

Owner: A siberian husky mixed with a c**n hound.

Me: Okay, so you have a musher mixed with a hunting type of dog?

Owner: yes.

Me: ok, what are these breeds bred to do?

Owner: well, half of the dog should be pulling and the other half run into the woods and hunt.

Me: Yes. And your problem was?

Owner: it pulls on the leash and runs after wildlife.

Me: yea, it appears that you have a dog meant for pulling and hunting.

Owner: yes, that's correct. Can you train it out of the dog?

Me: Do you have any interests?

Owner: Eh, yea sure I do. I like to paint and watch movies.

Me: can you consider quitting doing that?

Owner: no, I don't think I can. But what does this have to do with dog training?

Me: would you consider doing something else that gives you the same pleasure you get from painting and watching movies?

Owner: I mean, sure I can do other things but it's not as fun.

Me: ok. And what can you offer a musher that is more fun than pulling and a hunting dog that is more fun than hunting?

The dog owner is silent for a while.
Owner: That's a good question. I don't know.

Me: neither do I.

Owner: perhaps I should had gotten myself a PlayStation?

Me: haha, yea if you dont like hunting or being a lot outdoors training perhaps this dog isn't for you.

Owner: yea, one should perhaps read up more before getting a dog. But it's awfully cute!

Me: yes, I understand that.

Owner : it sheds a lot too. My husband goes crazy of all the fur everywhere.

Me: mmm, that's something you have to deal with.

Owner : yes, it was even hairs in the stew last night.

Me: yea that's not uncommon.

Owner : but you know what? I met a husky when I was 12. It was so beautiful. Ever since I've always wanted one.

Me: too bad you didn't meet a PlayStation instead.

Owner laughs: alright, I think I'm starting to understand that it's not the dog that has problems but me.

Me: haha, not much of a "problem". What you are saying is very common. People with guarding dogs gets angry when their dog growls at strangers. People with sighthounds gets frustrated when their dog comes home with a baby rabbit. People often know too little when they get a dog.

Owner : thanks for the chat. I have learned a lot in 10 minutes.

Me: good luck in the future. There's a lot we can do to help you in your training with the dog. But The dog will always have a need and joy to pull and hunt.

Owner: yes, I can understand that now."

So we had a visit from Phoebe for the day a few weeks ago and we did a home check and feed for mr chewy during half term!

I am currently still taking maternity leave but slowly returning doing a few bits here and there !

I am not currently taking on any new clients until I am fully back up and running BUT if you would like a slot and to be put on the waiting list I have availability for Tuesdays and Wednesdays ONLY, pack walks or one to ones !

So we've got a busy month with visiting dogs this month ! Thankfully after the heatwave but it is still warm so we won't be going too mad with the walks! (Plus I'm 32 weeks pregnant 🤰😂)

Watch out for some more pictures of gorgeous Bobster he's a gorgeous little fella and so is my husband too 😂😂 he is helping out so may be making an appearance or two 😂😂

Secrets of a Dog Walker 🐾🐾

It's not a job that will make millions; but for me, it's a job millions times better than an office job ❤️ (I can say that as I've done it).
We don't physically have eyes in the backs of our heads but we know so well the sound of every jingle of every ID tag, and every dog's individual footfall on the ground behind us, we may as well have.

We can't physically see round corners either, but we know so well each leading dog's body language in reaction to an oncoming person and/or dog that we may as well be able to.

We hear "Are they all yours?!" and "Wow you've got your hands full" at least twice a day, but we always smile and say "They keep me on my toes". Every. Single. Time.

It actually breaks our heart when a dog moves out of our area, and we thoroughly investigate our replacement for our own peace of mind, even if the client hasn't asked us to. Or when one of these borrowed babies gain their angel wings - that really sucks, we cry like they were our own (I'm filling up now just thinking about the ones who have passed 🥺)

If you peel back a few layers of clothing (depending on the season) you will find bruises, scratches and scrapes covering the whole of our bodies. Don't bother asking where they came from, we have no idea.

If you see a dog walker looking vaguely presentable on a weekday, you should send help, something is not right.... However, poo bags will still be in every pocket.

We love our clients' dogs as we do our own and will sometimes lie awake at night worrying about their injuries, illnesses, and behaviour problems. We can't help it after spending so much time with them.

We have nick names for every dog, and yes they sometimes make no sense, but the dogs know that's your way of saying you'll always protect them like your own.

Despite the harsh winters, the blood, sweat and tears, the dog slobber, the headbutts, and the smell of damp dog, it really is the best job in the world 🥰

All dog walking clients today is my LAST DAY before mat leave due to my van needing to go into the garage tomorrow!!!!

MASSIVE THANKYOU to everyone for your love support and all the understanding when I've been unwell or had car/van troubles over the last 12 months massively appreciated!

And thanks for all the gifts your all too kind !

I will miss you all but will still see lots of you over summer if you have dog sitting /visiting slots !

For now I need to TRY and rest my old body before the summer holidays 🤣🤣🎉
