Hi! We offer training, behaviour and an doggy socialisation and play sessions. Free consultations! Hi, I’m Joanna, the owner and Head Trainer of A-Dogs-Tail.
(29)
I have the pleasure of owning a beautiful Golden Labrador who is my inspiration (and the logo feature) of A-Dogs-Tail. He was my reason for beating cancer when on end of life care with 6 weeks to live. I also have a Romanian rescue dog who was used as a bait dog and she taught me valuable skills in training and the behavior of dogs. Both my dogs were ultimately the reason I became a dog trainer and behaviorist.

Dog Behaviour and Training is personal to each dog, and owner, not a “one size fits all” approach. I believe there is a solution to every dog training issue or behaviour problem. Every dog has different needs, owners have different goals, and there’s no single training method that works for everyone, thinking outside the box to not only get the desired results, but also helps you and your dog work together.
As a Canine Behaviourist and trainer I have experience with a whole spectrum of dogs, from motivated, easy-to-train dogs, to dogs that are aggressive with people and/or their fellow canines. All this knowledge is gained from experience and study which goes into every session with you and your dog.
Dogs aren't just a job, they are my whole world and I'm passionate about their whole world.
I am a qualified Psychotherapist for humans and have expanded my HND to incorporate canines.
I’m a volunteer for all dogs do matter Lancashire and Noah’s ark Romanian Rescue which are rehoming sites as their behaviourist and trainer.
I’ve been working closely with a trainer who has trained police dogs for over 30 years and was also a police dog handler at the same time and now he trains security dogs, he is an approved instructor/trainer for the national association of NASDU. I have expanded my knowledge through study and practical assignments and I also help with the security dog training.
I’m fully insured for all the services that I offer and have an advance DBS check for full peace of mind.
My aim and my passion is to build owner confidence, improve communication and understanding, providing the owner with the knowledge and skills required to achieve harmony and balance in the relationship with their dog.
I was born on a farm and had a full range of animals that over the 30 years I trained and continued to train dogs.
My own dogs, past and present, have been amazing teachers and I have learned so much from each of them over the years. It is a privilege to share your life with dogs and I am so grateful for everything they have taught me. There have been challenges along the way and I have found that there is always a new way of looking at things and that one method does not suit all. They have shown me how important it is to take breed requirements into consideration, temperament and personality too.
I currently have a golden Labrador boy who I have had from 8 weeks old, I decided that I was going to train him with force free techniques because love and kindness goes a long way, a dog will give you there heart and loyalty straight away and that’s what we as humans should give back and when you do it makes a big difference to training. I’ve learnt from experience love and respect that has been earned works, I also have a Romanian rescues large breed female who came to me in a bad state and attacked when you was near her, she had this fight or flight attitude from what had happened to her, she had never experienced kindness or a gentle touch, love in a humans eyes. She had no knowledge of anything other than pain and a concrete room, she’d never seen grass or had any kind of life but with patience and force free training, love and understanding her and how she was thinking made our relationship grow and change into something better and now she is an amazing girl who loves life, her brother and humans.
I will not tolerate abusive behaviour towards dogs or any animal cruelty.
