ANGUS BEEF SUPERFOOD

Black Angus is a cattle breed that is native to the North East of Scotland.
Angus cattle are known for their significant muscle content and classed as higher quality produce compared to regular beef due to increased marbling ( amount of intramuscular fat)

We get asked all the time is our food a “complete and balanced diet” however most people don’t actually know what this means. Let’s look at it in a little more detail

Complete and Balanced Dog Food

This means the dog food provides the pet with the correct amounts of every single nutrient that they need with every meal. This type of food is designed to be fed as a dog’s sole diet.
Each dog has a different balanced diet unique to them, this can be due to changing life stages or a difference in the type of breed. For example, a senior dog has different needs to puppies and a Great Dane will have differing nutritional requirements to a Pug.

To ensure that a healthy diet is being consumed 6 nutrients are required to be in each recipe

How do our light recipes reduce weight?

Our light recipes have added L-Carnitine - derived from the amino acid - lysine - which promites fat oxidation that helps to maintain a healthy weight and lean muscles mass.

Our light recipes are 15% lower in fat compared to standard adult products in order to aid weight reduction. As it is the calories which are reduced, this does not mean that a pet has to eat less, they can still consume a normal amount of food.

So why do Puppies need a special recipe?

Puppies require an appropriate high level of protein to support growth and development through this crucial phase in life

This is usually higher than an adults requirement as this is the fastest development phase within a dog's lifetime. During this phase they also require an appropriate and controlled calcium and phosphorus level to ensure correct bone development, which is especially important for large breed puppies.

The puppy feeding guide follows the growth curve. As puppies grow, they require more food to meet the higher energy demans during growth. This requirement reduces when they begin to reach their adult life stage and are therefore fed less. If they continued to eat the same amount of food required for puppy growth in their adult stage they would be over fed and potentially put in weight.

Puppy feeding guides are baser on the expected adult weight of a puppy in order to provide more of an accurate feeding recommendation. If the feeding recommendation was based purely on the current puppy weight - the breed size, age qnd growth phase would be unknown, making estimations of the feeding requirement unreliable.

The feeding level is enough to provide optimal nutrition for a young dog, without supplying excess nutrition to cause weight gain or cause young dogs to he hyperactive.
