"You do know that's not a cat?" said the vet 🤣
Not a Fylde Coast Cat, but I know we've lots of dog lovers in this group too so thought I'd post here! This little monkey has been passed around so much that we know she went from breeder, to owner, to a homeless gentleman, to a kind family, to another home, back to the kind family and now to us to find a forever home. She's a lovely little dog and is only about ten weeks old 💔 She's melted lots of hearts and is a quick learner (she's 90% toilet trained already). She's been flead, wormed, microchipped and has had her first vaccine. She's a staffie cross so will be a lovely companion dog. Being here, she's learnt dog and cat manners too! Home check and adoption fee will apply, and she will go with a neutering contract to make sure she's not used for breeding. You must be willing to come for several meets in Blackpool before adoption.
If you're interested in her, please text me on 07907716928 with a little about yourself, your experience and your home and I'll call back.

*finished - we have refunded one donation for it, but this costs us as PayPal take a cut, so any more late entries won't be refunded ❤️*

We've had the most amazing donation for our first fundraiser. Pele was known for being charitable, so it seems fitting that this autobiography signed by him will hopefully raise us some much needed funds.
This signed autobiography has been donated to us by a kind supported of ours who worked at the Virgin head office and was fortunate enough to meet Pele at his book launch in the Virgin Megastore of London Piccadilly in 2006. It comes with its original bag, and provenance provided by the donor.
We have chosen to raffle the book to afford all fans the opportunity to win it, rather than selling to the highest bidder. I do feel that Pele would prefer it this way, so here goes:
It is £3 per number to enter the raffle, or four number for £10. Numbers will be allocated in order of receipt of payment and be added to this post. The raffle will be drawn live at 9pm on Saturday 28th January.
PayPal: [email protected]
Please send by "friends and family" to avoid PayPal taking a cut, and add sender note "Pele".

Good luck!

The Fylde Coast Cats advent calendar starts here, with a nod to the precious boy that is reason that the charity exists in the first place, and who I miss terribly.
This is Newt - he pops up on my memories this time of year as this is the time of year that we found him and his siblings living in someone's garden. Their cat had had kittens and they didn't want them in the house anymore so the poor things were living out in the filthy garden. It was freezing cold and all they had was an empty plate that didn't look like it'd had food on it in a long time. We knocked on the door and asked after the little ones. They said they didn't want them, and brought them out and thrust them at us. We weren't remotely prepared for this, but we'd been visiting and donating to Furry Tails for a while so we called them and they kindly made space for them immediately. I'd known that rescues were full to bursting and that the situation wasn't great, but seeing it first hand really hit a nerve and I thought of nothing else.
We visited the little ones often, and decided to adopt the "least adoptable" of the bunch - a shy, odd looking little black male. Newt had a tragically short life and we lost him to FIP at a time when there was no treatment, but his impact on us was huge- we loved him dearly, and we felt compelled to help more. We began fostering for another rescue shortly after we adopted him, and eventually decided to set up our own charity shortly before his passing. I was keen that the rescue be registered as a charity so that donors had total transparency in terms of their money, and I was keen that all of our cats should be flead, wormed, microchipped and neutered (before leaving us if they were old enough, or with a neuter contract in place if too young) and that every home was checked before adopting. We'll always be a back up on those microchips, so I know that every cat that has come through us will always have us as a safety net.
Fylde Coast Cats is my baby, but without my beautiful Newt it would never have been conceived.
We'll love you always, Newton 🖤

As promised, an update on Nim and Koko.. with a twist! These two live with me, Kim - we already had two Sphynx cats among our own crew and Nim and Koko fit right in and made themselves at home immediately, though they were baffled by our furry feline residents! We were then asked to help Pogo, a lovely little ex breeding boy that was surplus to requirements and had been bought from the breeder by a family that loved the look of the sphynx but hadn't considered their high maintenance (until he ruined their white couch with his skin oils) so didn't want to keep him. The five of them are inseparable and are the most affectionate little beasts, and really there's not much more work with five Sphynxes than one, other than there being less room under the duvet!
Nim has flare ups where his mouth becomes sore and infected despite having no teeth, but he responds well to antibiotics when this happens. Koko is doing really well and has put weight on and no longer looks like a skin covered skeleton! She's looking fantastic ❤️
So, clearly I like the bald critters, so it should have come as no surprise when I brought the creatures in the last two pictures home 🤣 They're not exactly Fylde Coast Cats, but when we were asked if we'd take them in it only seemed right that they join the madhouse!

PS. To help you get to know us all better (and convince you to join us as a fosterer!), we'll be doing an advent calendar of festive cat posts starting tomorrow 🌲❤️

While we're here, shall we have an update on some of our longer term foster kitties? Here's some of the cats that we expect to be with us a little while or that need ongoing vet care ❤️
Clarice has some growing to do before her next heart scan - she needs to hit 2kg for the cardiologist to have a good look at her. There's definitely HCM which is pretty bad news, but until she's a bit bigger we won't know to what degree and how/if it can be managed.
Tony is absolutely precious and thinks eyelashes are hilarious.. dangerous game when you're falling asleep and he pounces on you. His heart sounded even worse that Clarice's at his last check, but it's been a couple of weeks so let's hope that his check on Tuesday isn't quite so bad!
Dot isn't doing too well and has lost lots of weight. She's at the vets tomorrow but it's like she's given up on life after being given up at 18 years old. We're so hoping that Dot can come through this as she has the most incredible home lined up 😿
Ash is a pesky boy. We're still not able to get him consistently off of steroids without his skin flaring up badly. He had to come off them for a while after he got an abscess on his neck but he's getting back to super handsome again now. The vet reckons he's about ten years old, and has probably had this issue all his life but it was ignored until it was so bad that he was scraping his open wounds on bricks for relief, so it's going to be a long road to recovery for our big guy but we're with him every step ❤️
(Nim and Koko update to come separately)

Well, it's December the first tomorrow, and as ever, we won't be rehoming close to Christmas. We have a few cats that are ready now though, so it'd be a shame if they didn't find a home before the cut off of the 10th and had to wait until the new year 😿
Cookie (5 months old, female) Henry (10 year old boy), Raven (2 year old girl), Meg and Hannah (11 week old girls) would love to destroy your Christmas trees!
Apply here for any of our kitties ❤️

We also have several ferrets that have been let down 😢 Fidget, Frodo, Flick and Fergus are back available, so please apply here if you'd like to home two or all four of them ❤️
