World of Water Blackpool was opened in 2005 as a destination superstore.

Being part of the UK’s Leading Aquatic Superstores we have a complete range of water gardening, aquarium products and livestock. Over the years we have developed the 11 acre site to include not only aquatics and water gardening but pets, reptiles, tents, camping and fishing tackle. Within the tropical department we carry a wide selection of community, oddballs and cichlid fish including tetras, di

scus, clown fish, livebearers, catfish, barbs and inverts. We also have an extensive range of fancy goldfish, live tropical plants, aquariums, décor, filters, heaters and food. Our water gardening section has all you would need to develop any dream aquatic project into reality. Along with our self-contained water features we have pools, liners, pumps, filters, food, plants, goldfish and koi carp. On site we have a comprehensive pet department “Pets World”. It contains rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and birds as well as the related hutches, cages, bedding, food and accessories. Within this department we have our purpose built reptile accommodation which houses a wide variety of snakes, arachnids, lizards, turtles, tortoises, invertebrates and molluscs. We are proud to a members of the Pet Industry Federation

In 2009 we opened our Camping area named Camping Zone with over 4500 square feet of display tents enabling you to view, at firsthand, the tent of your choice. With tents ranging from 2 person festival tents to 10 person family tents, we should have something to suit everyone. We also stock all the necessary furniture, sleeping bags and accessories which you will need to make your holiday a comfortable one. Camping Zone is well located for Preston, Blackpool. Visitors will find a great camping superstore with tent displays and all the latest camping equipment including Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme from major brands such as Vango, Outwell, Gelert, Easy Camp, Camping Gaz and Highlander all at budget prices. When you have bought your tent, your holiday would not be complete without your home comforts. So we have available:
camping cookers, pots & pans for camping stoves, kettles, crockery, cutlery, camping tables & chairs,lighting & torches, air beds & mats, gas canisters, water carriers, sleeping bags, tent carpets, rucksacks etc. Open 7 days a week, there is plenty of free parking and a licensed coffee shop on site. We offer a delivery service for any larger purchases.

If you’re planning on adding new fishy friends to your aquarium soon, here’s some tips for a stress-free introduction.

🐠 Turn off the aquarium lights

🐠 Float the bag in the aquarium for approximately 20 minutes to equalise water temperatures.

🐠 Now open the bag and gently pour in about 30% aquarium water.

🐠 Wait 10 minutes then repeat this process twice more at the same intervals.

🐠 Carefully net the fish out of the bag and place them in the aquarium.

🐠 Dispose of the water in the bag. Do not pour this water into the aquarium.

🐠 If the new fish are the only ones in the aquarium, wait 24 hours before initial feeding.

🐠 Spend time observing your fish on a daily basis

What is Wheatgerm food?

Wheatgerm is essentially the embryo of the plant, the reproductive part that germinates and grows new vegetation.

As a food source, it’s naturally high in complex fats, vitamins, and minerals, while it also contains slow-releasing carbohydrates. In comparison to simple sugars featuring in most germ-based foods, Wheatgerm is better at helping fish maintain their fat stores. This is essential during the cold, winter months.

Why use Wheatgerm?

As the seasons move on and temperatures get colder, your Koi and other fish will become more dormant. Fish begin to enter a state of semi-hibernation during winter and their metabolisms slow.

The semi-hibernation survival technique allows Koi and other fish to survive colder temperatures. Their reduced movement means they use less energy. Fish also eat less and produce a lower amount of waste than usual; however, they do still need to eat.

This is where Wheatgerm comes in. As temperatures begin to drop to around 8-12℃, fish keepers switch from their summer feed to a winter feed, to aid in maintaining the health of their pond’s fish population.

The Benefits:

As a result of the fish’s lethargic state and loss of appetite, digestion of their food can become problematic and lead to health issues, such as constipation. This is due to the fish having less energy than normal to perform the regular digestion process.

Wheatgerm counteracts this thanks to being low in hard-to-digest proteins, making the consumption of this winter feed easier on the digestion and waste systems of your Koi and other fish.

This is not to say proteins aren’t an essential part of your fish’s winter diet. Proteins along with fats and amino acids are vital when it comes to maintaining the weight and strength of your Koi and other fish.
