Day 2 of the Iberian Show, joined by Claire and Lindsay. Talking all things Equine Assisted Therapy/ Facilitated Learning and Hippotherapy.
What a beautiful sunny day!
What is Equine Assisted Therapy? Equine Connect offers EAT which encompasses a range of treatments. What do we do? What are the benefits? Who we can help?
During sessions, you don’t actually ride the horse. Instead, you carry out activities such as feeding, grooming and leading the horse around obstacles. Many of the benefits of equine therapy are likely due to the nature of the horses themselves. Horses are naturally gentle and calm creatures and are able to mirror and respond to human behaviour, meaning that they are highly effective at interactin
g and working with others in a patient and non-judgmental manner. The activities and tasks you take part in will have an effect in enabling creative thinking and boosting self-confidence. You can develop skills such as communication, self-control, problem solving and accountability, as well as improving your self-esteem, empathy, flexibility and independence. Equine Assisted Therapy can also help to bring out emotions to express and feel, releases stress, teaches you to trust, work as a team and aid communication. Anybody and Everybody is welcome at Equine Connect, if you just want to experience the joy of being around horses or to let us help with your own personal healing process. Equine Assisted Therapy can help support many conditions like trauma, abuse, lack of self-confidence, addiction, behaviour or eating disorders and learning differences. Whatever your need Equine Connect is here to help you to discover more about yourself, develop new ways of thinking and change any negative behaviours.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. In recent years the importance of good mental health has been recognised globally. But despite this, everyday, people- adults and children, still struggle with their mental health.
Sometimes we need to be reminded that it is okay and acceptable to pause our busy life schedules and enjoy the little things in life that make us happy and improve our mental well-being.
When you have so many things happening in your life it is difficult to find the time to pause and rest without feeling guilty. Resting your mind and allowing your mental health to improve is something no one should feel guilty about- it is actually very important to our everyday lives.
So we invite you to pause. Just for a few minutes. Join us in enjoying a beautiful moment of our gorgeous horses relaxing in their new paddock in the afternoon sunshine, then take a moment to enjoy something happening in your own life.
Together we can improve our own mental health and be aware of the others around us.
We are so excited to announce our next Open Day at Equine-Connect in June!
A fun filled family day out! ☀️
Meet the horses at Equine-Connect, join in with some crafty activities and have lots of fun playing some games.
Entry is free of charge 🥳 we look forward to seeing you there!
A wonderful little story on the beginnings of Equine-Connect featuring the leading lady Lisa and everyone’s favourite pony Rosie! ❤️
In the serene backdrop of Bodmin, Cornwall, Lisa, a former country pub worker turned entrepreneur, is harnessing the therapeutic powers of horses to promote mental health recovery. Thanks to a £25,000 Start Up Loan from the British Business Bank, her venture, Equine Connect, offers a sanctuary for ...
The weather is starting to shift into spring… slowly!
Meaning the horses are losing some of their fluffier winter coats.
Any guesses as to which horse created this miniature pony?
Wow!
What a fabulous 4 sessions we had for our “Stable Foundations” workshops.
And here is the finished result! Rosie is very happy in her new pen. The stable area was designed by the group of children and painted and decorated for Rosie and Jax.
The group also made some wonderful new friends, we played many fun games and importantly we talked about mental health and well-being with each other.
Thank you to all who attended, we hope to run more workshops like this in future- so watch this space 🥳
Join in the fun this Easter Weekend!
Our “Stable Foundations” sessions are bookable on Eventbrite 🐣

Week 2 of our “Stable Foundations” workshop complete!
This week the group worked together in some painting activities. Before playing a game of giant “hay bales & tails” (the equine equivalent to snakes and ladders).
The group was joined this week by Rosie, Jax and Orlando, Orlando was very interested in the games being played!

A little reminder… to acknowledge the little things in life, like a clear dry night in February 🌖✨
Last weekend we held the first of our “Stable Foundations” Workshops, for children looking for guidance with their mental health.
The group started off by discussing how to make sure Rosie/Jax’s new house is best suited to them and starting to design some ideas for their stable.
They then progressed to take part in activities which encouraged the group to listen to each other carefully, follow instructions and directions in pairs, work together as a whole team unit and support each other to achieve the objectives.
Of course the children were not alone in their endeavours and assistance was on hand (or hoof) from Vaidosa, Emilio, Lia and Rosie (as pictured).
We will be running three more of these group workshops (next workshop on Sunday 3rd March at 1pm) with some spaces available for any other children wishing to join. Booking can be made via the Eventbrite link or our page or by messaging us directly to book.
Only a few more days until our first session!
Please share far and wide, we want to make sure all children between 9-16 years old have the opportunity to attend these fun, FREE of charge workshops 😄
Booking available at EventBrite or send us a message 📧

During our Equine Assisted Therapy sessions we give you the opportunity to learn new and transferrable skills.
In this session Lisa demonstrated some basic first aid skills, with Rosie acting as the patient. 🩹
Learning/performing first aid is not only beneficial to horses, animals and people, but also helps to develop compassion, confidence and composure.
These are valuable skills for every day life. 🌿
Today is blue-Monday, a day known for being quite a sad day...
Instead of focusing on the negative things in our lives lets look out for the beautiful BLUE things we see each day....
Blue Sky!
Blue Headcollars!
Blue Rugs!
Blue... trousers?!
Find something beautifully blue to brighten your day today and let us know in the comments!
Many people struggle with the colder winter days.
Now is an opportune time to reflect and prepare ourselves for the spring/summer.
Lets try to avoid sitting and dwelling, instead lets try planning and thinking of small goals we want to achieve for the spring.

What we offer at Equine-Connect. Equine Assisted Therapy is based on using obstacles that resemble life and flashcards to recall of which the client has to use the horse as his/her support to tackle these problems that correspond with their goals and objectives. The aim is to help overcome anxieties, lack of self-confidence, problem-solving, and to change negative behaviour. If you would like to learn more about how we can help or to book a session, please contact me for a free consultation via: Tel: 07387 926283 Website: http://equine-connect.co.uk/ Email:[email protected] #EquineConnect #EquineConnectCornwall #mentalhealthsupport #mentalhealthmatters #equineassistedmentalhealth #equinetherapy #equineassistedtherapy #equineassistedlearning #therapy #therapysession

The aim is to help overcome anxieties, lack of self-confidence, problem-solving, and to change negative behaviour. Carrying out tasks such as feeding, grooming, herd watching to encourage responsibility of the care of the horse and his needs. Building the relationship into a trusting harmonious relationship as horse and client learn to interact. The horse will mirror the behaviour so as energy levels rise and lower so does the horse. Thus enabling the client to learn control of anxieties and stress. The horse is non-judgemental and is incredibly affectionate and seeks trust in humans. Therefore a huge reward for the client when the horse is set at liberty (loose) and follows the client because he has chosen to do so without force. Watching the herd interact to observe aspects of behaviour and social structure. Helping the client to reflect on their own relationships with others.
