Hamsters are banned in Hawaii,
One of the most commonly kept pets here in the UK is the hamster🐹

Because the climate in Hawaii is similar to the hamsters' natural habitat ecologists worry that any escaped pets could harm the local ecosystem and push out native species.
They are also banned as pets in Australia and New Zealand for similar fears.

With the threat of very cold temperatures this week, here are some adjustments you can make to keep your pets warm!

🛌Make sure their bed is in a warmer room of the house and away from drafts. Remember, everyone loves a blanket to snuggle up in.

🧥Consider a coat for out on walks to help keep them warm.

🐾Check their Paws! Wash off your pet's paws, legs, and tummy with water when you get back from a walk to remove any salt from the pavement and road.

♨️Pet-safe heat pads can help keep your small furries warm, just ensure they have space to move away if they feel too warm.

Does your pet seem slower this time of year?

Older pets will feel the cold more and reduced mobility means they can't move around as much to stay warm.

Arthritis is often more noticeable in colder weather here are some signs to look out for:
🩵Limping or lameness,
🩷Hesitating when lying down or getting up,
🩵Loss of muscle tone,
🩷Tiredness,
🩵Irritability,
🩷They may be showing more interest in sore areas, licking/chewing or even growling if you touch a sore spot.
