What a weekend for team Equi-be! 😍
9th time at the nationals for and Kira and they smashed it by winning their showjumping class and then taking class champion, second in a very very strong tack and turnout class and 4th in their first ever go at endurance! 🌟
Then we have Scarlett and super pony Sonny who took 2nd in their class at Stithians show on Monday! How amazing do these pair look together, especially both being such a young combination! 😍

Apologies for the radio silence as of late, life’s been a bit hectic recently! But I did managed to find a couple of spare hours to spend some time with my own horses for once! Think it’s safe to say, Newt is definitely the smallest customer I’ve had since I started massaging!

I do have a few appointments free for the last week of June in the st blazey/Bodmin area and some spaces available for July, for anyone wanting to book in!

First outing for team Equibe of 2023! Sadly just out of the placings this year for qualifying in the dressage at hartpury, having needed to be in the top 2 placings to qualify, but still held at a respectable 70% and 4th in a strong class, maybe it was the pink bands! 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

Kira is kept on top form with regular MOTs especially now she’s getting an older lady (not that she knows that!)

Fully booked now until the end of may, but still plenty of space for June!

Sorry everyone for the radio silence this year! The last 7 weeks have been a bit hectic with me working away from home with cute white fluffy things 🐑 however I am back now!

Please find from April onwards I can now only do Tuesday/Thursday/Friday afternoons unless pre booked a couple weeks in advance, due to me now taking on other work commitments!

I will also be increasing my prices from £40 to £45 a treatment, this is my first ever price increase since I qualified 4 years ago, and has to be done due to the cost of all my insurances/fuel going up! Don’t worry, all riding club members still receive 20% off their treatments!

✴️This is for anyone who struggles to get herbs, supplements into their senior horses because of dental issues.

✴️This recipe is for senior horses who may have arthritis or joint issues. By no means is this only for senior horses the "smoothie part" is for senior horses and of course you can add or take away anything you like.

✴️if you don't like the ingredients don't use them. If you don't like my information don't use it and scroll on by 🚲.

🍃The base is nettle tea which is super for older horses. You can use loose tea or tea bags to brew your tea.
🔸 I like to brew my tea overnight with a lid on it. I or 2 tea bags into 500ml of hot water (Roughly 1oz of loose dried herbs). This tea can be stored in the refrigerator for 1-2 days no more than that.
Strain and use the cold tea.

🔸Base recipe
Add the cold tea to a blender.
Add a small handful of celery into that.
1oz chia seeds or flax.
1 tbsp of tumeric.
A few twists of black pepper.
Quarter tsp of ginger powder.
2-5 Tbsp of soaked pumpkin seeds.

🔸Extras for pain
Devil's claw or willow or meadow sweet or bosweila. These Are all great, so see what you can source or forage, these may come in liquid or dried form. If you do not get precise measurements contact me for help or for more information on which herb may suit your horse best.

🔸Herbs for digestion
Older horses sometimes need help with digestion. You can add 1 or more of these if you wish. (These can be brewed as a tea with the nettles in the base recipe or used as dried herbs in the blender).
Fennel
Chamomile
Peppermint
Plantain
Lemon balm
Dandelion
Again these can be fresh herbs, dried, tea bags or liquid.

🔸Add in any other supplements you wish.

🔸Blend everything up and add to your horse's feed. Older horses like a wet feed especially if they suffer with dental issues.

Thid could be refrigerated and use the next day. I would not store it for any longer.

After a lovely summer of fun and lots of pretty frillies, my lovely bunch of 4 legged friends are finally on their winter holidays! Whilst they're off turning themselves into hairy bog monsters (some more than others - Bear 🐻) that leaves me with plenty more time to work with all your lovely 4 legged friends!.

🥕 Do you use hay nets?
🥕 Have you considered where you are hanging them in your stable?

Now we're heading ever closer to winter (yes I'm sorry I said that word!) and you're horses are likely to be spending more time inside a stable.

If you’ve watched your horse eat from a net, they usually pull from 1 side more than the other. This will directly impact their musculature build up & can lead to dental issues 🦷 Muscle asymmetry will lead to compensations within the horse & will subsequently influence saddle fit & impact on ridden work.

It’s natural for horses to eat on the floor allowing their airways to drain. If you can feed from a bucket / loose on the floor it is always encouraged.

🐴 If hay nets are required or preferred, there are options…
consider having 2 tie up points at either sides of the stable, fluctuate between each side or split across 2 hay nets per feed time/different days encouraging them to access their hay from a different side of the stable.
