We are qualified positive trainers working under the KC Good Citizen Dog Scheme offering training classes for all levels and a 121 behavioral service.

We have a couple of spaces available on our next life skills course starting in a couple of weeks.
This is a really valuable course which can be completed after puppy level or as an introduction course at any age. This is not a kennel club course, we have put it together to teach the useful skills that you will use everyday with your dog. It covers many techniques to help lead walking alongside other skills such as control around food, accepting routine handling and veterinary care plus much more.
This is a 7 week course introducing new skills every week.
Please get in touch if you're interested as we expect spaces to fill very quickly.

We have had some last minute spaces come up on our Thursday evening puppy course starting next week (Thursday 6th February) , please get in touch if you would like more information. We also will have space in our next life skills course which is a brilliant foundation training for dogs any age.
Our puppy courses work on basic skills to set your puppy up for daily life while putting the emphasis on fun and building a strong cooperative bond with lots of trust. We also give lots of information to help you with everyday life and raising your puppy. We use only positive training techniques, helping your puppy to want to work with you.

Here is our BBC Radio Cornwall interview from this morning.
We had very limited time to speak and explain so chose to include a real world example of the damage punishment based training can cause rather than statistics that the average morning listener would find less compelling.
Of course there's so much more to say on the topic but in a less than 5 minute radio interview, there's only so much we could cover.
We just hope that it made people think about the harm they could do to their dogs and prevent it.

We want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Joyous new year from all of us at Bodmin Dog Training.
Thank you everyone for another wonderful year, we've had a great time with clients both long standing and new and are looking forward to another great year in 2025.
We had a great day of Christmas parties on Saturday, thank you to everyone who came along and made it such fun. I hope you and your dogs all enjoyed it.

Have a wonderful Christmas time with your family both furred and not and we will look forward to seeing you when we return to training from January 2nd onwards. =)

WARNING
There's a nasty dog gastrointestinal virus going around again.
Just a few precautions to be aware of to help prevent your dogs catching it.
Don't let them share water bowls or allow your dog to drink from still water sources. Take your own water out with you.
Try to prevent your dog sniffing any poo that hasn't been picked up.
It might be worth avoiding busy areas with your dogs as at this time of year, kennel cough is also spreading.

Such an important thing to be aware of and requires urgent veterinary attention to increase the chances of survival.

We have had a couple of spaces open up in our very popular Wag It Games and Parkour classes, these are great fun classes for you and your dogs and really work on building up your partnership.
We are Licensed instructors offering Dog Ball, Shadow Skills and Smart Dog Games and can assess you through the levels. We also offer Parkour with levels to work to, this is a great activity that turns their world into a real playground.
All is positive only training with an emphasis on fun for you and your dogs. Please send us a message for further information if you're interested.

We are collecting for the Poppy Appeal again this year at Bodmin Dog Training with a selection of bows available to purchase for donations. If you don't come to classes you're welcome to pop in Tuesday or Thursday to donate and collect one. All money donated will go to charity, we aren't taking anything out for materials etc. =)

For most dogs costumes were only worn at the end for photos unless they were particularly comfortable in them. 🎃

Brilliant end to a fantastic weekend of testing!
Congratulations to all who passed their bronze and silver kennel club good citizen dog scheme training awards.
You've all worked so hard to get to where you are now and we're so proud of all you have achieved. We can't wait to work on the next levels with you and see your fantastic progress continue. It was spectacular to see all of the dogs relaxed in their stays together particularly.
Thank you to Debs for giving up her weekend to assess for us, it's always much appreciated.

Canine Body Language -
The session will be theory based but showing lots of examples of body language to help you to understand it. It's a very informative workshop covering the silent language of dogs and the subtle signs that are often missed. Often if we watch our dogs body language for these signs, we can respond accordingly before they need to use more expressive language such as barking or growling

Shaping Training -
This session is working on an alternative positive training technique where your dog can never fail. It's brilliant fun and great for confidence building. This one is a mixture of theory and practical, letting our dogs think for themselves and builds a very strong cooperative bond.

Lead Walking and Recall -
This sessions goes in depth into why lead walking and recall can be difficult for dogs and covers lots of techniques to help with both. It's a mixture of theory and practical with lots to practise at home after the session.

Congratulations to our latest sets of fantastic puppies who passed their good citizen dog scheme puppy level award with us, you've all worked really hard with your little ones to build the foundations of a great relationship with mutual trust and respect.
