A bitterly cold but educational morning! ❄️

After noticing an on going issue with Ember seeming unsettled and busy in the mouth,despite all efforts my end to tick all essential boxes but sadly seeing no positive changes,it was time to go down the route of the bit/bridle with a professionals eye!

The lovely Ellie from E.H.E - Independent Bit & Bridle Fitter came out to meet us at arena hire and assessed Ember.
We tried a variety of bits and certainly saw and felt the difference in the bit that suited the best! Alongside a new custom bridle fitted to suit her every nook and cranny 🤭
Obviously being young,we've got to take into consideration lack of balance & strength but Ember was so much happier in the set up Ellie customised for her and she presented much more comfortable!
**I rode like a sack of spuds but we'll gloss over that🤣**

We even came away knowing some interesting anatomy facts that we'd never have taken into consideration before!(very traditional being a 'one bridle fits most'🤭) So everydays a school day! 😁

So with Ember now having a custom bridle and bit on order and my MRI tomorrow, my Xmas presents to myself have come early🫣💸🤣

In other news,clipping is well under way but i just forget to take any photos but here's the recent 3 boys modelling their new racing stripes - 2x high custom irish and 1x hunter 😁

Hasn't been ridden since our quick hack around the block,last thursday...bunged her in the box this morning,off to arena hire and she does her first proper schooling session as though shes done it for years! Aside from some baby blips, she did very well😁

And that's a wrap for 2025!
Embers 8th and final show for the season and we finished with another red one!🥇

In the 4months she's been out and about,she's brought home 4x 1sts, 2x 2nds & 2x 3rds. With a slight change of direction mid way, from being a plaited 'coloured' to a hogged lightweight show cob - its certainly proved that it's her vocation!🤭

Now for the hard work to commence,getting stuck in this winter with our schooling 💪

A weekend of partys💃

Saturday we nipped down to the open NPS show. Unfortunately Ember couldn't quite process the sound of thundering hooves above us,from the warm up arena on the other side of the hedge so all was abit much on the go-round but nonetheless her baby brain held it together for her individual,finishing with a respectable 3rd in the Cob class🙏

Then today,although not quite her spicy self as she was a little tired from yesterday, she bagged a 1st in the Cob class along with a wildcard for the championship. Unfortunately she wasnt pulled up but it was invaluable experience for her to stand at the box for most of the day taking everything in while stuffing her face,to then be in the ring with 10+ of all shapes & sizes,where she stood solid as a rock in the line-up and didnt put a foot wrong overall🥰
...Then back home to reality - Ember returns to being a field grub and i go off to do a yard cover😆

A rather last minute decision to attend but very much worth it,winning the Open cob class🥳🥇

Blowing a gale but another great school day for Ember! There was a horse-eating hedge down the end of the ring which was apparently terrifying 👀 but she did her best to hold herself together for the majority of the trot up🫣🤣
Then into the split championship where she was out of the placings, but was all good experience for her to be amongst others of all breeds and sizes🐴

2nd time under saddle having sand beneath her toes 🥰 A short brief session as the baby brain was very tired by the end but she took it all in her stride☺️

The very handsome Angus is now squeaky clean after his sheath clean this morning🌟 Behaved impeccably and thoroughly enjoyed it,by doing his best impression of a tapir with his nose wiggling away😆

Ember brought the red ribbons home today,in the Open Cob class🥇
Blowing a gale and very much eyes on stalks but it's all experience/learning for her!😊
Some wonderful comments from the judge and overall a fabulous day out supporting Newquay Riding Club open show🥳
