As is the tradition to go for a walk on Boxing Day, we headed out to Moses Gate 🚶🏻🚶🏽‍♀️🥾

Sadly we’re still seeing so much mess. 😖

🌳🌴🌲We implore everyone to be conscious of what they’re feeding wildlife and how we treat our green spaces.

‼️🚨We saw mouldy bread, food and salad thrown in the park. This is dangerous to animals and biodiversity. Stick to specially selected seeds and feed.

The long summer days sound like the perfect chance to go and feed the ducks at the local park.

If you do, avoid feeding birds food such as bread and rice ❗️🍞🥖🍚❗️

These foods can cause harm and have little nutritious value. They can mould very easily too, making birds prone to getting sick. Lots of discarded food left can also attract rats. Not pleasant for anyone 🐀😣

Choose specially selected grains and seeds that are suitable for wild bird diets and are actually healthy for them.

If you choose to add nuts in your bird feeders, avoid nuts that are produced for us as these are often flavoured and have high levels of salt. Always choose products that are intended for feeding wildlife.

You may be able to keep your Easter chocolate hidden away from prying hands, but have you thought about snooping snouts? 🍫🐽

Our doggy pals have a sense of smell at least 40x more powerful than us humans, and our feline friends have some pretty amazing detection skills, too! Never underestimate your pet's determination when they've got their nose set on something that smells tasty 😋

Each year our Pet Hospital teams see chocolate poisoning cases, most of which are from pets sneakily getting their paws on the goods. ⚠️🐾 If you suspect your pet may have eaten chocolate, keep the packaging and call your vet immediately.
