Confidence & Courage .... 2 things that can make or break you .. if you always believe that you can't and focus on the worst then you will never acheive your goals no matter how big or small .. instead of wondering what can go wrong think about what can go right... Surround yourself with people that push you and not pull you down .. and set yourself goals short term and long term big and small..remember you can not run before you can walk .. think good things and attract the positive energy that you need to get where you want to be even if it does take you longer than you hoped you will still get there just never give up 🧑

Imperial Dream
Id love to find another ex racer as nice as Mr Imp was 🀎 brave as a lion, beautiful inside and out , raced and won National hunt, placed point to point and retired sound to the field for 2 years before I got him..good ex racers are hard to find and also hard to beat ..12 months reschooling at least, building new muscle groups and a complete different way of going he was just fabulous 😍
Do you have an ex racer that you would like help with get in touch 😊

Alongside teaching I run a livery yard and days like today I'm very grateful for our small team that pull together to get stuff done 🧑 clearing the yard from snow, making sure all horses are done to the same standard as our own even on a rubbish day like today, checking all are well and like today helping the vet for one that just wasn't quite right.. thankyou team πŸ’ͺ

Winter is most definitely here 😩

Some of us have little or no turnout which of course is not ideal. Those that do have are probably upto their knees in mud which also brings it's own set of problems πŸ™„

We are lucky we have some but find after an hour they want to come in or some just don't want to go out in the first place causing more problems again 🀦🏻

The most important thing is they have the option but I weigh up them standing eating nothing as want to come in and scrapping at the gate for unwanted vets bills 😩

A horse needs to move they are not designed to stand still so keeping them moving is the most important thing , great if they go out and move around , in these colder months a gentle jog on the lunge keeps the gut moving and the joints lubricated lessening the risk of colic.

One of the worst things you can do is change their diet or shovel more haylage into them if not able move about as everything slows down especially when cold as they are less likely to drink water πŸ’¦

Hand walking, hacking when not icy , trying to keep up with their workload where we can, and of course that all important roll/horse time if you can get it

Winter is all about survival 🧑

I've been tagged a few times in this today and it's so true πŸ™

Written by Amy Skinner "When you pay for a lesson or training, you aren’t buying an hour of my time. You’re paying for thousands of hours of sweat, struggle, success and tears. You’re buying injuries, mistakes, and revelations. You’re buying nights awake thinking about a horse or student I need to help more, thinking about what could be bothering a certain horse. Searching on the internet about possible medical causes for certain behaviours. You’re paying for the time i spend updating owners late at night about how their horse is doing. For the emotional toll it sometimes takes on a trainer when an owner is dealing with big emotions. You’re buying hours of hauling hay, mucking stalls and grooming, of carefully checking your horse over like It was my own. You’re paying for my further education, because i still take lessons as frequently as possible. You’re paying for my care, concern, over dinner conversation, and you inevitably become a central part of my life.
You can’t put a price on education, or personal development, or the bliss of finally being β€œwith” a horse. Thank you for sharing with me, teaching me, and letting me teach you, while I put food on my table and hay in my barn with the most fulfilling job ever. "❀️
