Thank you for your support! Moderation guidelines
The RSPCA is here for animals and we’d love our page to reflect this. There are so many important animal welfare messages to get across and discussions to be had; we’ve got a few guidelines to ensure all this important stuff doesn’t get lost! To help us keep animal welfare at the top of the agenda, please don’t post any:

• violent, obscene, profane, hateful, or racist posts, links or images
• comments that threaten or defame any person or organisation
• solicitations, advertisements, or endorsements of any financial, commercial or not-for-profit organisations.
• comments that suggest or encourage illegal activity
• multiple successive off-topic or disruptive posts
• repetitive posts copied and pasted or duplicated
• posts containing specific details about cruelty cases (these should be reported to the cruelty line on 0300 1234 999, rather than posted here)
• posts which we feel may potentially impact upon prosecutions. Where an investigation is considered ‘active’, any comments made about the case may mean someone facing charges might not be in a position to have a fair trial and the trial could collapse. We reserve the right to delete any of these types of comments, or ban any user who infringes these guidelines. In addition to this, individuals who seek to persistently antagonise our supporters, and accounts which are suspected to be false profiles created with the intention of breaching a ban and persistently antagonising RSPCA supporters, will be removed from the page.

A man from Merseyside has been jailed after killing a gull in Blackpool 💔

After CCTV footage was shared with us and we issued an appeal for information to the press, we were able to identify and interview the individual.

The distressing footage shows the gull being kicked, trapped under the man's foot and then stamped on three times before the attacker walks away.

Sadly, gulls are one of the most victimised and misunderstood wild birds, and we often receive reports of deliberate or extreme cruelty towards them.

Here’s the full story: https://bit.ly/4osirvD

We are so grateful to everyone who shares our appeals for information with friends and family, and on social media. This enables us to catch perpetrators of animal cruelty and neglect. Thank you to every animal lover who does this 💙

Here's our early Christmas present to the UK Government 🎁

We've joined forces with more than 200 groups working across different sectors to present the Government with proposals to include in their forthcoming Food Strategy, which would create a fairer and kinder food system for animals, people and the planet.

The Food Alliances' key asks for farmed animals are for the Government to:
- Support a reduction in the consumption of animal products, whilst promoting higher welfare
- Support farmers to transition to higher-welfare schemes like RSPCA Assured
- Introduce mandatory method of production labelling

By working together, we're able to create a better world .

We had some visitors at our Clinic this morning we welcomed Firwood school who very generously had done a collection of towels and pet food. The students and teachers came to drop them off, Kate our vet brought her little three legged cat Peggy in to say hello to them all.
So we would like to thank everyone at Firwood school for thinking about us and donating all of these lovely things.

While many of us prepare to celebrate this festive season, far too many animals are left abandoned and neglected.

Reports of animal neglect and abandonment have reached their highest levels in at least five years. Every 10 minutes, we get a call about an animal in desperate need 💔

Will you join the Big Give Back to Animals this ? Find out how your generous donations make a difference to the lives of animals like Floss: https://bit.ly/4nht041

We were recently called out to rescue an overweight raccoon who was spotted on the streets of Cornwall! 😱

The local village rallied together to secure him in a greenhouse while our team arrived, and we were greeted by a big surprise...

At a staggering 11.2kg, Meatloaf weighs three times what he should!

He's been residing at RSPCA West Hatch Wildlife before heading to a specialist permanent home.

Raccoons are a non-native species here in the UK, originating from America. As wild, non-domesticated animals, strict regulations govern their captivity here. We don't recommend them as pets, as it's difficult to meet their needs in a typical household environment.
