SINGLETON SOLO 1 PUPPY

names for a single puppy. Yes this happens a lot. I know most people believe when having a litter you will have 5 plus and the surprise look when only 1 spotted. Depending on breeds etc personally I see more singleton and 1/2 puppies on scan rs rather than 8 plus. I've personally had singleton litters and lots more planning is needed ie care to stimulate puppy play. Planning on csection or natural again vets advice would required. Getting the right plan in place and being prepared makes life easier.

So a little about me. When growing up we didn't have a dog until I was around 13/14. We had fish. I also had hamsters. Although when I was younger I was allergic to animal fur. I'm sure my primary school hated me in a certain class there was exhibits for us learn I think they where taxidermy fox and things but when it was our turn everyone missed out cause of my allergies. Lol. I've always loved animals and always owned one ever since I can remember. Be it fish birds dogs cats etc. Our first dog was I can remember was a Yorkshire terrier called rip. He use come to the youth club with me etc.

Stud dog check list for girl owner
Some ideas on what to do when planning.
1. Plan stud before your girls in season. Go see them first.
2. Have a backup in case something goes wrong.
3. Plan how to do mating
4. Get a contract with stud so everything's clear.
5. Health check your girl ie boas hips anything related to your breed
6. Check health status of boy ie same as girl
Certain breeds have specific tests ie bulldogs huu and breed council health exam.
7. Do your research ask questions
8. Check pedigree for breeding coefficient are you line breeding or going completely away.
9. Check your breed standard so you know your girls faults and what faults you need improve and check stud hasn't got same.

So do you breed? Is one question I get asked a lot or do you know anything about breeding. I've owned and bred British bulldogs for over 20 years. Although not loads of litters a year I've gone through the process many times. Done self whelps and section litters hand reared litters and normal litters. Also helped many people over the years. So lots of experience breeding dogs.

Accidental matings do happen. I hear lots of stories. Some people say your bad and it should never happen, if you have a boy and female you should make sure nothing happens.
Hey guess what things happen.
Kids other half doors being bust open by the dog. Next door dog jumping a fence breaking it. Gone vets and a randy dog found a way. Thinking there out of season but the girl dog ovalated early.
All theese can and do happen if not sure get a scan then you can plan.
I've heard so many stories and only need a minute for the dogs to mate. I've also known one dog being in a cage one loose and people think there safe but a tie between cage happened.
I see lots who don't want pups but accidents happen more often than people realise. I'm not here to judge but to advise.

So one question I'm asked is have you bred or have any knowledge on breeding. My first litter was over 20 years ago. I've bred British bulldogs and had multiple litters. During this time I've dealt with many situations that happen during breeding. Singleton pups, hand rearing. Self-whelp. Sections. Poorly pups and great litters where things went well. Pics are some old pictures of some pups.
