SOCIALISATION DONE RIGHT ✅🐕🐾

A common misconception I run into these days is people assuming that socialisation means allowing your dog to meet and greet every other dog and human they see out in the wild, this is in fact creating a false expectation for the dog and making them think everything out in the world is at their disposal.

Instead we want to teach neutrality around these things, allowing the dog to co exist around other dogs/people/busy environments whilst they stay calm and just take it all in.

I allow my dogs to interact only with well behaved dogs they will have a consistent relationship with and see on a regular basis, otherwise I can’t control the outcome of a new meeting and would rather not take the chance on my dog having a bad experience, as they have nothing to gain from meeting random dogs or people.

REACTIVITY CASE: How we dealt with it. 🐕💥

I’ve been working with Zeus for a few months now building up a good foundation of trust and respect. When we first started working together Zeus was highly reactive to dogs and people. Over time we’ve managed to work on his obedience which has had a direct effect to his reactivity. By no means is he fixed after this session, but it shows that with the correct techniques and a lot of patience, you can get certain reactive dogs to get on with other new dogs.

Zeus’s owners contacted me to help with walking/training and stop him from pulling like a freight train on the lead. After just 2 weeks working together, he understands how to “heel” walk and stay in position.

Public reactions to walking a GIANT Presa Canario rescue dog down the high street. This was after a few months of working with Coach, the dog that inspired our name. He was an extremely nervous rescue and wasn’t used to leash walking or being around busy areas like this. Safe to say his confidence grew in a very short space of time whilst working with him and he very quickly became a happier, more confident dog.

Kobi is a lovely 6 year old GSD. He’s a great dog and typically super intelligent which makes him a fast learner. These are a few clips I supply clients with aiding them to understand certain behaviours as well as seeing the sort of structured side to the solo walks I offer…. Not just letting the dogs run wild!

SCENT-WORK GAME: 🐽🎾This is a great exercise to get your dog working hard in a small window of time. Scent-work is so important to help your dogs get some of that pent up energy out, and requires them to use lots of brain power in a short amount of time.
