The field thankfully got off light from Darraghs vist. Lost a bit of tinsel & some of the green netting was a bit flappy.
I've sorted most of the netting this morning but run out of ties, so it's a bit bulgy in places in the Airlock.

Other than a few small puddles , the field itself is holding up well.

After I was fixing the netting in horizontal, needle icy rain & gusty wind, got back home & blow me the sun came out & a 🌈
Typical!! πŸ™„

I hope you've all stayed safe & haven't suffered any damage. I know it's been dreadful for a lot of people & they will be struggling with power loses that will take some time to fix.

⚠️ PLEASE READ ⚠️

Due to the high winds expected overnight Saturday & through Sunday, we have made the decision to shut the field on Sunday. I have messaged all Visitors booked for Sunday, so please do check voicemail, text etc.

Bella our Elf & Safety Officer says "Woof, don't forget to check your fencing before you let your dogs out for a wee over the next couple of days". 🐾

Please do take care.

I do love to see photos of these beauties when they come for a visit. 😍
I always feel somewhat inadequate, as they are so well trained & I can't even get all mine in one photo. πŸ™„

Their Mum is currently looking for 3 XL crates to buy cheaply or borrow as its only for a short period. If anyone can help let us know.

Not sure if I'm gutted or relieved, but apparently Boston West has had flooding so my Op has been cancelled for the time being.
Thanks to everybody for their well wishes & offers of help. Hopefully it won't be too long till its rescheduled. 🀞🀞

One day on & it's not boding very well!
I don't normally post πŸ’© pictures, but I'll lead with those on this mornings collection of jobs

I expect a couple a day, it's 2 acres, longer grass, low light & leaves, but when we get into 4-5 or more I start getting the hump!
We are on winter hours, that's only 7 bookings a day, that's terrible for missed poo per the amount of dogs visiting.

Digging.
When you can see the liner for the sandpit, it's a jolly good indication that your dog has gone to far. So are the flying clods of turf.
Please, stop your dogs before they get to this point & fill the extremely deep holes in the sandpit. A lot of dogs make a beeline for that area when they first arrive, they shouldn't have to fall in!
As for filling holes with grass, if you are exerting that much effort, you could be filling them in properly. Better yet, distract the dogs from digging the field in the first place.

Lastly, the tiny ball left in the sandpit poses a choke hazard to just about every dog bigger than a JR.

Yes you pay to visit, but it does not excuse you from the responsibilities of dog ownership, which means clearing up after your own dog, having consideration for others & minimising damage.

Today we've shut the taps down for the winter as the forecast is getting colder.
We will still get water up to the field in containers, but it will be on an as & when we can basis.
I would recommend bringing your own until further notice.
The watering cans for any messy jobs can be filled from the IBC container behind the big shelter.
THIS IS NOT SUITABLE FOR DOGS TO DRINK.

I've also popped a cover over the padlock on the airlock. Although a bit fiddly these did stop the locks freezing last year.

⚠️ We Need Your Help ⚠️

I'm due to have a knee operation this Friday, I've been putting off posting as it still may not happen due to the flu & a subsequent chest infection. I'll literally find out on the day now.
But if it does (which I'm hoping it will 🀞), being as I'm the main caretaker for for the field, I'm going to be limited in what I can do for the next few weeks.
Darren will be having some time off work initially but that will be to help me, our young granddaughter who lives with us, & sorting out our own 4 boisterous dogs.
The field will have to take a bit of a back seat.
This is where you come in.
We could have shut, but we know the field generally ticks along nicely with regular visitors, who know the drill of gates & timings etc.
BUT, we need everyone to follow the rules we have in place. Arrival/exit times, locking gates correctly, humans keeping off equipment, & the bane of every secure field owners existence, watch your dogs, pick up their poo & don't let them dig anywhere other than the sand or tyres!
The poo has been increasing, I know the grass is longer than usual but this is to hopefully protect the ground through the winter month's & reduce mud.
If you are watching your dogs they can't possibly poo in the shelter/on top of my osteospermums/on the side of the tunnels/halfway up a fence post & a million other bizarre or ordinary places! The same goes for the digging, it's been really hard going the past few weeks while I've felt so unwell trying to cart dirt about to fill in holes!
The poo & the digging are my two biggest concerns while I'm out of action, but with a bit of vigilance & consideration for everyone & these wouldn't be an issue at all.

Sorry for the long waffle, I've had quite a bit on my mind of late.
