🐾 RECALL FOR ARTIE 🐾
This adorable boy had his first recall session and he did amazingly! As always we first looked at working with no distractions before building him up to work around more distractions so we can set him up to succeed with a solid recall 🐕
🐾 TEDDY 🐾
Here is Teddy practicing his recall with his owner during his session. Using direct and indirect recall during his session as we have started to introduce more distractions and a distance to help build on a solid recall as he still struggles with distractions up close so these smaller steps help set him up to succeed and ensure that we only progress as he is ready without over stimulating him 🐕 Teddy is also joining me on weekly walks having grabbed that lucky slot that became available ♥️
🐾TEDDY🐾
First recall session today for this excitable cocker spaniel and wow what a good boy! He picked up on recall amazingly and was so responsive! Working first with no distractions to build on the recall and now his owners are going away with the knowledge they need to work on this before we gradually introduce distractions. I couldn’t of been happier with Teddy today 🌟
🐾RECALL WITH OTIS🐾
Otis doesn’t move far away from his owners but when a distraction appears his owners want to know that have a solid recall in place. We worked in a quiet area to build on his recall before we add distraction. Building your dog slowly rather than throwing it in a the deep helps you really lay the foundations of a solid recall.

“Charlotte is a fantastic dog trainer she cares about her job and the love she puts into helping dog owners is amazing. Not only has she helped with the training of our black lab Angus with his reactiveness and pulling she has given me the confidence to be able to put the training into practice. She puts your mind at ease from the first time you meet her. Both Angus and Madge love her and her magic pockets of cheese 🧀 Thank you so much Lisa”
This video was from our follow up with Angus and as you can see his focus is solely with his owner and not the dog on the other side of the road. Prior to our training Angus would of reacted negatively towards the dog by barking, lunging and pulling on the lead.
Your confidence as the owner is just as important and getting feedback like this makes it all worthwhile! 🌟
Most of you guessed it! 🐾
It was of course Spud the Springer Spaniel. Both of us were muddy after his recall session but look how much he’s progressed! Building on that distance now. I couldn’t be prouder of him! ♥️
Anyone else feel like this? 😂😂
🐾 HESTON 🐾
Lead reactivity was making my walks stressful for Heston and his owner. In the video you can see a typical reaction from Heston when he sees dogs and walks. Followed by the end of our session where we had dialed everything down and worked on small areas to help change the picture for Heston. There is still a way to go with Heston but by working slowly we help him to succeed. Here we are using my dog who is calm which is a great way to introduce Heston gradually to a change in his reaction by not throwing him in at the deep end. Take a watch and see how well Heston took to his new methods! We can then build up from here to dogs who are more of a challenge for Heston but working at a distance and his pace to achieve this.
🐾 SPUD 🐾
After working on Spud’s lead walking we are now looking at introducing and building a solid recall. Loose lead walking was a doddle for Spud however, with being driven so much by his scent drive recall is a much harder task for him to focus on. We are taking it right back to basics and really building on his ability to focus at short distances using a fun sniffing game to use that scent drive to help him rather than hinder him. Associating the fun game with recalling back. This is his second session and for Spud this is such positive progression who struggles to focus when given the smallest bit of freedom. I was so happy with this result during his session and now with more sessions we can build and develop this. 🐕
🐾 ROXIE 🐾
She smashed her first recall session! Building that bond with her owner and working on creating a solid recall. We worked in a quiet space to help her focus to begin with but she did amazingly!
As always, finishing on a positive note to build her confidence and helping her to succeed ready for the next time 🐕
🐾 MENTAL STIMULATION 🐾
Any type of exercise that engages your dogs brain is so important:
🐾 Builds your dogs confidence
🐶 Releases stress
🐾 Relieves anxiety
🐶 Helps to burn off excess energy
This can be any activity that challenges your dog’s problem solving skills, something that gets them thinking and learning such as teaching new or practising old commands, scent games and many more!
Add this along side your physical exercise for your dog and you will have a much more content and happy dog. 🐕

Second session for Winnie with the introduction of recall and she’s smashing it! ♥️ such a clever girl! 🌟
🐾 ROCKET 🐾
Introducing recall for this pair yesterday and how lovely it is to see new bonds growing. Just look at his owners happy face, it says it all! A young girl and her puppy getting ready to make memories together ♥️
🐾 FRANK 🐾
Another Frank today! It’s Frank the Great Dane puppy again! Sitting and watching the pigeons in town park today getting him used to sitting calmly and watching a variety of things that he may come across in everyday life. Watching calmly before moving on with lots of praise. I can’t believe how much he’s growing already 🐕
🌟OZZY🌟
Follow up in the rain for this chap! Previously we have looked at working with Ozzy’s behaviour towards other dogs on walks which he has come on leaps and bounds and even his lead walking is so much more relaxed. Today was the terrifying house 😂 Ozzy’s owners haven’t been able to get him past this house without an aggressive outburst and even avoided the area. No dogs live here, nothing scary to the human eye but Ozzy was having none of it. We gradually decreased our distance from the house in a looping motion as Ozzy settled to help set him up to succeed. Moving closer each time he remained calm. Ending on a good note, we continued with our walk helping to gradually remove the fear association he has built up with this house 🏠
🐾 ROCKET 🐾
Would you believe less than 30 minutes before this video Rocket’s pulling was so unbearable his owners could not hold him back?!
Rocket and his owner did so well in their first session. That smile at the end says it all! 😃
With a few corrections to teach Rocket to respect pressure on the lead, not bombardong him with treats, just building on his ability to focus on his owner and this is the result.
Still lots of work ahead to really fine tune him around distractions, but just look at that loose lead walking! 🐕
EDIT-
It has been pointed out to me that it looks at though this was a “magic” fix in half an hour. This is not what I’m advertising at all, simply stating how far this pup had come and is by no means perfect just yet and the owner is learning a new technique also.
Four weeks ago I went to this lovely group of dogs for a behaviour consultation. A variety of issues were looked at from aggressive displays between Reuben (Microbulldog) & Annie (Old English Sheepdog) to trouble on walks with Primrose (English Bulldog) who got into the habit of attacking feet to the point you couldn’t move. On my follow up visit today it was lovely to see the HUGE improvements from everyone! A harmonious walk together and as you can see, no feet were harmed in this walk as Primrose leaves that behaviour behind! Such a wonderful group of dogs and so nice to see their owner much more relaxed in the knowledge that she now knows how to work forwards with Reuben as the aggressive outbursts are becoming much less as this behaviour gets phased out also ♥️
🐾PLAY🐾
Play is such a great way for dogs to learn. They communicate with each other and they have fun! It’s great to see dogs just being dogs ♥️
🐾SOCIALISATION🐾
An important aspect of your young dogs training. Socialising your dog with different environments so they can experience all the sights and sounds that may come their way in life. But doing this the right way is just as important. Here we are with Baloo in the middle of the town park so he can see the distractions from a distance to begin with so we don’t over stimulate him which would escalate his over excitement. Gradually building up a sense of calm with new experiences at a pace that suits your dog to ensure your dog can succeed without bombarding them with too much information at once. Letting them sit and take everything in may seem simple but it is a valuable experience for your dog 🐕
Why don’t you go and let your dog watch the world go by today and enjoy each others calming company ♥️
