Lovely Silver Brown Rocky Mountain Horse, Elsa.
Everyone falls in love with her beautiful temprement and 'pretty pony' looks.
4 years old in September 2025 can't wait to see her hacking out towards the end of the Summer and then planning to breed from her.
Life never goes to plan, was bought with her half sister for the UK and hoped to place her with a new breeder. A year on and just keep delaying the decision to let go.
So she's definately here for the foreseeable.
Why is it so easy to buy Rockies and so difficult to let them go?

DAY 7. Interesting Fact!

I ve seen many people purchase horses over the last 50 years. Many of us buy what we want and not what we need in a horse only to find out we are over horsed! We buy with our heart ❤️ and not our head.
So next time you purchase DO NOT BUY A ROCKY, unless you require a stunningly beautiful loyal companion that will carry you miles in a soft ambling gait that is easy on your joints and a friend for life.
WARNING ⚠️
This is not a breed of horse it's a way of life and one Rocky will never be enough !

Day 6. Interesting Fact !

The Rocky Mountain Horse breed is currently listed as Threatened in the USA, by The Rocky Mountain Horse Association. Here in the UK as an estimate we probably have between 100 and 200 horses.
I've heard them described as 'the laborador of the horse world' and 'born backed'. Agree or disagree with those sentiments but I ve found them to be Loyal, Friendly, Intelligent and Affectionate. But be WARNED⚠️ they will absolutely steal your heart and one will never be enough! Let's hope they survive for future generations 🙏

DAY 5. Interesting Fact !

The Rocky Mountain Horse is believed to have descended from Spanish bloodlines. Some of the lines today have been traced back to the 1800's. The early lines may have included The Morgan Horse and The American Saddlebred but is said some of them descended from the extinct breed the Narragansett Pace Horse. Tobe who was owned by Sam Tuttle is said to be the main foundation stallion of modern day that most can be traced back too.

Day 4. Interesting Fact !

The Rocky Mountain Horse should stand from between 14 hh to 16hh. He should be of an even temprement with an ambling 4 beat gait. He should be a solid colour with no white above his knee or hock and no excess white on his face. With all the above ticked he may be registered with The Rocky Mountain Association if the parents are certified.
A RMH must be 24 months old to apply for certification.

DAY 3. Interesting Fact !

Rocky Mountain Horses are one of a very few breeds that carry a gene that enables them to gait. In addition to our regular paces of walk, trot, canter and gallop with their own unique footfalls we have paces of gait. In gait the RMH moves his legs independently with one foot always on the ground which enables them to travel long distances and reserve energy making them a valuable endurance horse.

Day 2. Interesting Fact !

When horses were a necessity The Rocky Mountain Horse had to be truly versatile. Plowing, travelling through rough terrain, pulling buggies, cattle herding and riding for comfort were just a few of the talents a Rocky could be expected to carry out.
Today they are used often for pleasure riding and hacking over more difficult terrain. With numbers relatively few here in the UK its important for us to record numbers correctly.
