If you’ve boarded your dog with us recently, you might have noticed either me or Aisha wearing our ‘Oodies’ (we quite often wear them over our clothes). 🙂 Whilst they keep us warm and comfortable, there’s also reasoning behind it!

Dogs, like humans, can feel anxiety and stress, and coming into someone else’s home, without their owners, might be one of the most stress inducing experiences for them, even for the more confident ones! In turn, this can cause a dog to have temporary separation anxiety.

Oodies are quite literally wearable duvets. Dogs seek out soft, warm and sometimes enclosed spaces to feel more secure and safe when they’re feeling a little anxious. Whether they are laying on top of us with our Oodies on, or if they’re buried underneath them - mimicking a den like environment, not only are they feeling warm and comfortable too - they’re also snuggled close to us, feeling loved and cared for which helps them form that trusting, positive relationship with us!

I mean, that’s our excuse, and we’re sticking to it! 😂🥰

Snuffle mats are a form of enrichment we use here at RTW to help encourage dogs to use their noses to find their hidden treats. They can help keep dogs mentally stimulated, engaged and occupied, they help anxious dogs find calm and they help high energy dogs burn off some steam. For Buster, we hid some of his kibble in there and it kept him occupied for a decent amount of time! :)

For Buster, we hid some of his kibble in there and it kept him occupied for a decent amount of time! :)

We are the house of sickness and germs this week 🦠 with the kids off school, myself and Aisha feeling like we have the plague and poor Pickle recovering from being spayed yesterday. Luckily it’s a very quiet week for us here at RTW, but I just wanted to share my mums dog Nelly with you all. It’s no surprise that I LOVE spaniels and little Nel is no exception! She constantly gives you her cheeks to kiss and actually hugs you too!! 😘 beautiful little girl ❤️
