The Yukon Quest - The highlight of my learning expedition to Alaska. Here are some of the lead dogs at ~Checkpoint300. It was such a brutal checkpoint, both cold and remote so a big shout out to the team who ran the checkpoint - Such a welcoming place.

At each check point the vets are on hand to check over the animals and to help out with any issues they may be facing

During the race, a crucial aspect for the dogs was the pre-race inspections. Prior to the beginning of the race, all the dogs underwent thorough examination by a veterinarian to ensure they were fit to compete.

'One of the major advantages is that these dogs are very cooperative during handling, making the process of conducting a thorough clinical examination enjoyable for both the dog and the veterinarian. I highly recommend this experience for newly graduated veterinarians who are seeking more exposure to clinical examinations, working in challenging environments, and emergency medical assessments.'

While Opal's parents took a well-deserved break, we provided Opal with a relaxing staycation in the comfort of her own home! It was her first time having a holiday at home on her own, and we ensured it was a hassle-free experience for her. She got to enjoy the luxury of sleeping in her own bed without any worries! 😍
