My Higgins ( crossed the rainbow bridge in 2001). . Higgins had been very badly treated , had his teeth sawn off so may have been used for fighting or baiting . He was in the shelter for almost 2 , they couldn't home him as everyone brought him back as he was so aggressive . Once I took him home I couldn't take him back . Every dog deserves a chance at life . We shared 9 years together living in a fishing village in . Every now and again he'd let me stroke him but generally he wouldn't let me near . He was damaged beyond repair but at least was happy and comfortable . When his time was up he tried to bite the vet , he went out the way he lived . Ironically it was an inflamed heart that killed him . Under all the aggression , pain and damage was the biggest heart .
