Just to clarify, I AM CLOSED!

Today unfortunately I've had someone I've never met before turn up on my doorstep demanding a dog groom on the spot. Despite me explaining I was heavily pregnant and on maternity leave he still pushed. It was incredibly intimidating.

I have plenty of lovely grooming friends to recommend in the time I'm off. More than happy to text people recommendations if I haven't already but otherwise please don't turn up banging my door down when I'm trying to rest in the last couple of weeks before baby arrives.

Hi all 🫶

Unfortunately I have had to make the tough decision to go on maternity leave even sooner than planned.

Without going into detail I've not been well for a few weeks now & have struggled massively while grooming. Baby is also now under fetal medicine/consultant doctor care meaning my head is not in the right place to be working.

I'm so sorry to those clients I've had to let down last minute, it was never my intention to have to cancel appointments or pass you off to other lovely groomers.

I will be off work now until sometime in 2024 - please don't message me yet asking when I'm coming back as it all depends on how birth goes/how baby is.

Please look after yourselves & those wonderful doggos of yours, I will really miss seeing you all on a regular basis 🥺

4 years ago today I qualified as a dog groomer! Huge thank you to for teaching me everything I know, Sam is a legend!!
I can't thank you for all of my clients support in those 4 years! Especially through multiple lock downs, personal issues & now with a baby on the way!

Great Post from .secret.dog.walker - this also applies to dog grooms! 🌡

My grooming lodge this morning was 25c at 9.30am - even with air con on this doesn't cool it down to a safe temperature unfortunately 🌡

The location of my lodge is at the end of my garden in a proper suntrap. Previous summers I have had to cancel grooms in this heat as it is unsafe to groom your dogs. All dogs need drying which of course heats the room up further 🌡

Currently I am also 28 weeks pregnant and struggling massively even to groom the handful of tiny dogs I have booked in. Please be patient with me if I need to rearrange your grooms - I am due to finish on 8th July for early maternity leave anyway but there is a high chance your groom may need to be moved or cancelled if these high temperatures continue 🌡

To everyone booked in (there's very few of you anyway as all dogs that take over 2+ hours have been cancelled) please await a text with possible further rearrangement or cancellation 🌡

Very sorry for any inconvenience caused, I am doing my best given the circumstances but as most of you know this pregnancy has been really hard on my physical health for various reasons and the high heat only adds to that 🌡

Hi all! 👋

Just wanted to pop on and talk briefly about when I'm stopping working for maternity leave.

I will be working my final day on Sat 8th July, at 32 weeks as I am currently struggling being on my feet all day & as I'm sure you can understand my work is very physically demanding.

This does mean any appointments scheduled after this point will need to be brought forward or booked with another groomer unfortunately but I will text you on an individual basis to sort this out.
I do have some lovely groomer friends who can take your lovely doggos on while I'm off but spaces will be limited as they have their own clients too.

Before anyone else asks, I will definitely be coming back to work! I don't know an exact time frame yet because it depends on birth & how baby girl is, but of course I want to make sure I spend valuable time with her once she's here. I will of course update anyone wanting to come back to Trim & Tails once I've got a plan in place.

This now means I have limited availability between now and mat leave so would ask that you look at the listed availability and text me with when you'd like to book in. I don't have any availability other than what's listed so please be mindful of that.

Hi lovelies!
Just to clarify, I am very much still grooming dogs every single week from Tues-Sat and don't plan on going on maternity leave until JULY.

Please don't feel the need to cancel your appointments all the way to June just because I'm going to go on maternity leave at some point. Its really devastating to be working so hard despite being so poorly in pregnancy, to have long standing clients find new groomers already.

I have been rubbish at posting on social media and haven't been the best at replying but unfortunately I've been very sick since very early on in pregnancy. I also have 7 dogs and other pets to look after all on my own so please be patient with me and send a second text if you don't get a reply quick enough.

Some of you may or may not know Opie my little cockapoo had his second emergency spinal surgery on Monday this week after losing the use of his back legs again over the weekend 🥺

Thankfully Southern Counties Specialist Vets are incredible and he's walking better than he was, just 4 days post op!

This does mean I am back at work tomorrow HOWEVER please be patient with me. We have a lot of physio/check up/staples out appointments in the coming weeks so I may not have the availability you want unfortunately.

My priority is my little man. I will text everyone who I had to cancel this week, first, to rebook, then get back to anyone else who has messaged asap.

Opie update ❤️ Thank you so much for your patience. For anyone who missed it, my little 4 year old cockapoo Opie was diagnosed with IVDD last week and then Monday just gone he lost the use of his back legs. On Tuesday he had an emergency MRI at Southern Counties Vet Specialist where it was found he had slipped a disc which was pressing on his spinal cord hence the issues with back legs. He came home on Friday at 4pm (videoed) after absolutely amazing care at SCVS. He is now on strict crate rest for minimum of 4 weeks, pain relief and antibiotics, physio exercises at home 4 times a day, follow up vet appointments this coming Friday and physio starting 8th July. As you can see he needs assistance every time he goes to the toilet. Currently I am a little stuck on what to do work wise but hoping to get some dogs groomed this week that we're rearranged from last week while Mr Trim & Taylor is still off work too. I would ask for yet more patience and understanding please as this is all new to us and is taking some major adjusting to. I promise I will be in touch with everyone as soon as possible ❤️ I may need you guys to be flexible and understand I will need time between each dog to sort Opie out.
