Meet the beautiful Phlox, who visited us in Brackley last week for her free pre-op check before her spaying procedure! 🐾

Our nurses ensured she was fit and well to undergo surgery and were available to answer any questions relating to the procedure.

Spaying or neutering improves your pet’s quality of life and helps reduce animal overpopulation, contributing to a healthier, more compassionate community.
Physically, these procedures help prevent serious health issues, such as uterine infections and certain cancers in females, as well as testicular cancer and prostate problems in males.

🎉 Welcome Dr. Ruby Stevens BVMedSci BVM BVS MRCVS! 🎉

We’re thrilled to have Ruby joining the Brackley team!

A message from Ruby:

"I graduated as a Veterinary Surgeon from the University of Nottingham in 2018 and have been working in a small animal practice in Banbury ever since. I'm excited to be joining the Taylor Vets Team in Brackley!

While I enjoy treating dogs and cats, I have a special passion for rabbits, guinea pigs, and other small furries, and I’m committed to advocating for their welfare. I’ve completed a course in surgery for these species, which was incredibly rewarding—though I’m always eager to learn more! I also have a keen interest in soft tissue surgery and dentistry.

Outside of work, I love horse riding and hope to spend more time doing it in the future. I also enjoy attending rock concerts, walking in the countryside with my partner, and pampering my four cheeky guinea pigs: Hup, Apricot, Tipsy, and Kiki!"

Let’s give Ruby - and her Guinea pig gang - a warm Taylor Vets welcome – we’re confident she’ll be a fantastic addition to our team!

If the weather forecast is accurate, we're in for a cold spell for the rest of the week.

At Taylor Vets, we believe it's important to be able to recognise the signs of hypothermia in your pets.
Hypothermia occurs when an animal’s body temperature drops dangerously low, often due to exposure to cold without adequate warmth. 🌡️❄️

Your pet's fur provides some insulation, but there’s a limit to how much warmth it can offer. Extra care is needed when they’re out in the cold.

🐾 Prevention Tips 🐾

Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, & Small Pets

❄️ Move them indoors during colder months.

❄️ Provide plenty of bedding and cover their home with insulation like old blankets, ensuring good ventilation.

Dogs & Cats

❄️ Ensure they have a warm, comfy bed in a draught-free area.

❄️ Never leave them locked outside; they should always have access to shelter and warmth.

❄️ For outdoor cats, provide a warm, dry shelter with ample bedding.

❄️ Dry them off if they get wet and carry a towel during dog walks.

❄️ Avoid leaving them in cold areas, like cars, after walks.

❄️ Some dogs, like greyhounds and whippets, may benefit from a dog coat for extra warmth.

We’re always just a call away, so if you’re ever unsure about your pet’s symptoms, don’t hesitate to reach out. 👇🏻

🐶 What a bundle of cuteness! Winnie the Miniature Schnauzer visited us last week for her first vaccinations, and she absolutely oozed confidence!

🐾 This brave little pup handled it like a champ, and we just know she’s going to keep her owners on their toes!

Winnie is part of our Taylor Vets Members Club, which means her vaccinations were completely free for her owners! 🎉

Joining the club is a fantastic way to save on your pet's preventative treatments while ensuring they get the best care possible.

🐾 Meet the Pets of Taylor Vets! 🐾

This week, we're introducing John's weird and wonderful crew.

✨ Tiresias (Maine C**n, 5)
A gentle giant who joined John during his recovery in 2020. Often mistaken for the local "Big Cat" due to his size!

🐾 Rocco (Labrador, 5)
A lovable Lab who adores food, walks, and naps. Best buds with Tiresias and loved for his squishy "flumpy bits."

🐾 Twiggy (Whippet, 1)
A whirlwind of energy who loves running into the distance—given half a chance!

😼 Fruitloaf (Rescue Cat, 6 months)
Found as a stray a few months ago, Fruitloaf was surrendered to the practice and John just couldn't say no to giving this sweetheart a home. She loves keeping Twiggy in check and giving the carpet a "makeover."

And not forgetting,

🐴 The Horse Gang: Obi, Zan, Conf, and Ati – four strong and graceful companions who radiate pure magnificence (the photos speak for themselves!). These four graceful company fill John and his family’s days with joy, adventure, and just the right amount of chaos to keep life wonderfully busy.

Which of John’s gang is your favorite?

🚨BREAKING NEWS: The safest bank heist in history! 🏦💥

Local builders pulled off the heist of the century… or so they thought. These modern-day "masterminds" removed a one-tonne safe from the former Lloyds Bank on the high street.

If you saw the drama unfolding, don’t worry, this was all above board. No laws were broken, except maybe the laws of common sense! To silence any whispers, we can confirm this wasn’t a daring robbery, just a part of our ongoing renovations.

Turns out the one-tonne safe was empty, but hey, at least the builders got their workout in!

So, if you’re planning a high street heist, maybe don’t take tips from these guys. 🤣

‼️ Scam Alert ‼️

Like other local practices in our area, we have been made aware of scam calls from a local number claiming to be from Taylor Vets and other local practices. The caller may ask you to confirm personal details, falsely claim you’ll be prosecuted if your pet isn’t vaccinated, and request payment to book an appointment.

This is NOT from us.

We will only contact you via our official phone numbers or trusted email addresses. Vaccinating your pet is highly recommended but not a legal requirement.

If you’re unsure about a call or message, please do not confirm any details and contact us directly on 01280 733800

Thank you for your vigilance.
