Read on to find out more! 👇
It’s important to recognise the warning signs of a pet emergency so you can act fast and get your pet the help they need! 🐾
Here are some key symptoms we recommend to watch out for:
⚠️ Difficulty breathing
⚠️ Choking or non stop coughing and gagging
⚠️ Sudden collapse or weakness
⚠️ Excessive vomiting or diarrhoea
⚠️ Bleeding that won’t stop
⚠️ Seizures or disorientation
⚠️ Fractured bones, severe lameness or inability to move, stand or walk
⚠️ Injuries to your pet's eye(s)
⚠️ Ingestion of a known toxin (grapes, chocolate, anti freeze)
⚠️ Bloated abdomen (especially in dogs)
⚠️ Unable to urinate or is only able to pass a small amount of urine or blood (especially in cats)
⚠️ Refusal to drink for 24 hours or more
⚠️ Obvious signs of pain
If your pet shows any of these signs, don’t wait! Contact your vet immediately.

Did you know bats are a protected species? 🦇
All bat species, their homes and breeding sites are fully protected by law in the UK. Bats sometimes turn up in places you might not expect to find them and in some instances may be injured.
One of our clients found a bat on their driveway and believed it to have injuries. They quickly brought the bat to us and we got in contact with the bat conservation trust for guidance.
In the meantime, we made sure the bat was comfortable and had access to food.
A bat conservation trust volunteer swiftly attended the practice to assess the bats injuries.
Sadly, this story does not have a happy ending. The bat had a fractured elbow and multiple injuries to one of its wings which would not have got better with rehabilitation, so the decision was made to euthanise the bat.
If you come across a bat, it's important that you take the correct action to avoid breaking the law and to get the bat the appropriate help.
We recommend contacting the bat conservarion trust for help and guidance:
