🚨 New team member alert!!! 🚨

Introducing Chole Stiles RVN!
Chloe joins us as the newest member of the Taylor Vets Brackley family.

Chloe qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2021, after beginning her career in veterinary practice in 2018.
Chloe's experience is rich and varied, having worked with an array of exotic animals—from leopards and lemurs to crocodiles! She brings this unique background to her role here, where she’s particularly passionate about inpatient nursing, ensuring each furry friend feels as comfortable and happy as possible during their stay.

Outside of work, Chloe keeps busy with her energetic cocker spaniel, Murphy, and her two horses, Daisey and Hotshot. Whether she's out riding or on a walking holiday with Murphy, she’s always on the move. At home, she also shares her space with Winnie, a rescue cat who—naturally—rules the household.

Chloe is a wonderful addition to the Taylor Vets family! Be sure to say hello next time you’re in the practice.

A huge thank you to Graeme, The Dog Father, for sharing important safety information regarding the recall of YuMove and Protexin products from Amazon.

Please be sure to visit the retailer's website for full recall details and instructions.

We also want to extend a big thank you to Graeme for trusting us with Johnny's care — we truly appreciate your support and absolutely love seeing Johnny in the practice 🐾❤️

Must Read!

We received notification from Amazon this week that some YuMove supplement they sold us through a third party seller some time ago is counterfeit and possibly harmful to dogs.

Both of our elderly dogs have been extremely poorly recently. Jonny in particular needed to be hospitalised for treatment and it was touch-and go for a while. To help treat his diarrhoea we’d previously given him Protexin Pro-Kolin, a probiotic paste, bought from Amazon. To add insult to injury, I’ve just heard that Amazon and eBay have been selling a counterfeit version of that, too. Both manufacturers are keen to point out that they did NOT produce the counterfeit batches.

I cannot say with certainty that the products caused the illness in our dogs, but it seems very likely to me. I’m angry Amazon don’t appear to have systems in place to prevent the potential for this. Personally I won’t be trusting them to provide supplements and similar for our dogs in future, instead I’ll go direct to the manufacturers.

If you have recently ordered any of these from Amazon (and/or eBay in the case of Pro-Kolin) please check the advice in the following links. All the info you need is there. If you’re worried about your dogs health, see a vet. (N.B. I’m not a vet and I can’t give advice on this). Please help spread the word to fellow dog lovers.

On a brighter note, I thought you’d like to know Jonny pulled through and has made a remarkable recovery. He’s back thinking he’s still a puppy (at nearly 16)! Tish (17 years old), who was less severely affected, is also firing on all cylinders again. I’m very grateful for that.

Finally, and I don’t usually do this, a huge shout-out to our vets Taylor Vets for giving Jonny in particular the very best care, as always. Thank you, you’re wonderful people.

Take care everyone!

Rumor has it that to join the Middleton Cheney build team, you’ve got to sport a certain hairstyle—one with all the durability of a hard hat. 🤣👷🏻‍♂️

Despite our best efforts to recruit him into the “smooth operator” club, David’s not quite ready to embrace the all-hard-hat look just yet!

We're pleased to say the team is making amazing progress at the new practice. The walls are up and the rooms are defined. It's great to be able to visualise where everything will be!
We completed the screeding on Monday, taking us one step closer to finished floors.
Excitingly, we plan to be painting in the next couple of weeks, so keep your eyes peeled to see which colours we choose!

Steve and co have been working tremendously hard to inch ever closer to opening, but don’t worry, it's not all work, there’s still plenty of room for laughs, donuts, and a hot cup of tea along the way.

You can register for Middleton Cheney now! Pre-register for our opening in early 2025 using this link: https://taylor.vet/middleton-cheney-pre-register-2/

Or, if you don’t want to wait to join the Taylor family, you can register now at our Brackley practice and transfer to Middleton Cheney once we open, just head to this link: https://taylor.vet/register-your-pet/

Today, we honor not only our frontline armed forces but also those who have served through the years, dedicating themselves to the care of animals of service and war. Often working behind the scenes, they tended to animals on the frontlines—caring for horses in WWI through to the military detection dogs of the present—saving countless lives and providing crucial support under the most challenging conditions.

Did you know? Our own Dr. John Taylor began his career as a Vet with the Royal Army Veterinary Corps?

From all of us at Taylor Vets, we are thankful to all of our armed forces —past and present—who've worked and continue to work tirelessly in the face of danger.

Your compassion and courage are forever a part of the legacy of service and sacrifice.

🐾 Meet the Pets of Taylor Vets 🐾

Today we're introducing you to Tori's wild and wonderful gang!

Meet Ruger, a lively 6-year-old Labrador x Bavarian Mountain Hound! Ruger has been a dedicated working dog his whole life. After undergoing two cruciate surgeries (thanks to the amazing work of John), he's back to running, jumping, and even chasing rabbits! This season will be his first back at work, and he’s beyond excited. Off duty, Ruger loves stealing socks, pup cups, and finding "ballys" in the park.

Ruger’s family includes his “Guinea Pig Gang” – Peaches, Paprika, Plum, Peanut, and their beloved Parsnip, who they recently lost to old age. Though tiny, they’re full of sass! For Christmas, they got a "rabbit-proof" playpen... which they teamed up to pull down and escape. Their favorite snack is parsley, which Tori grows just for them. Together, Ruger and the gang bring endless love and fun to Tori’s life! 🐾🐹

Pepper was diagnosed with a Grade 3 BOAS, and as her symptoms worsened, her owners decided on surgery to give her a better chance at a healthier, happier life.

Pepper has made excellent progress post operatively, and her owners kindly shared their thoughts with us:

"Taylor Vets did an amazing job on her! She’s a totally different dog now, with so much energy and life—it’s incredible. I can’t thank you all enough for everything you did to make this possible!" 🌟

Pepper’s experience highlights how much BOAS surgery* can improve a pet's quality of life. At Taylor Vets, we’re dedicated to helping pets breathe easier and feel better.

If your pet shows signs of BOAS, consider bringing them in for a consultation to explore potential options for their health and comfort.

You can easily book a consultation with us online, just follow the link below 👇

NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS, HOME FOUND ❤️

❤️ Can you help Indy? ❤️

Indy is a loving, 2-year-old, KC-registered, male French Bulldog who is currently looking for a new home due to changes in his owners' personal circumstances. The decision to find Indy a new home has been a hard choice for his owners, but they wish to do what is best by Indy

Indy has a very affectionate nature and tends to be quite attached to his humans, which makes him a devoted companion but also means he struggles with separation anxiety.

Recently assessed by a professional, Indy was found to be a happy and healthy dog with no major behavioral issues. He is friendly with adults and children and reportedly does well with other dogs. However, he needs support to manage his separation anxiety

Indy would benefit from basic obedience work, along with focused support for his separation anxiety. With a dedicated and understanding owner, he has the potential to be a well-behaved and loving companion.

Indy would do best in a home where someone is present most of the time or has the experience and time to work on his anxiety issues. A calm, stable environment and a patient, committed owner would help him thrive.

Taylor Vets is assisting Indy’s owner in finding him a suitable and loving home, and any prospective adopter must be open to a home check as part of the process. Initially, we are accepting applications from clients of Taylor Vets only.

If you believe you could provide Indy with a caring home, please reach out via email at [email protected].

🚨Please do not call the practice; all inquiries and information will be handled through email.🚨

Ever noticed those adorable, flat-faced dogs like Bulldogs, Pugs, and Frenchies?

These are brachycephalic breeds, known for their shortened skull shape, which gives them that unique look. But with those cute faces comes some specific health risks such as BOAS.

BOAS (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome) is a breathing issue common in flat-faced breeds like Bulldogs, Pugs, and Frenchies. Due to their narrow airways, they can struggle with breathing, especially during exercise or in warm weather.

Brachycephalic breeds are also at risk of eye & dental problems – Short snouts mean more crowded teeth and exposed eyes.

How to Manage These Risks:

🐾 Keep exercise light to avoid breathing difficulties, and prevent overheating by staying cool in warm weather and avoiding peak sun hours.

👀 Protect their eyes and clean skin folds regularly to prevent irritation.

🪥 Brush their teeth often to avoid dental issues from crowded teeth.

BOAS Surgery:

For severe breathing issues, some dogs benefit from BOAS surgery* to open up their airways, making life more comfortable.

With a bit of extra care—and sometimes surgery—your companion can thrive!

If you have any concerns about your pet’s health, always consult your vet.

🐾 Meet the Pets of Taylor Vets 🐾

Aren't Remi and Maybe just the most wonderful duo?
Remi and Maybe belong to Wendy, and here's what Wendy has to say about the delightful pair:

Remi adopted me when he was 4 months old. He was born at Battersea Dogs Home, embarrassingly his mum couldn’t confirm who his dad was - the shame! He is a pacifist by nature (unless you are a small furry 😱) and you can tell his mood by the position of his ginormous ears. He will be 3 years old in November and last Christmas he wrote to Father Christmas and asked for a brother or sister.

A little bundle of Labrador fun granted Remi’s wish and joined our family at 8 weeks old in May this year. She is now 8 months old and the size of a small pony. Her name is Maybe and she is an absolute joy - the pair of them are the best of friends. She can often be found staring at her terrier brother in horror when he is being mischievous!

Being a veterinary nurse is a rewarding but sometimes tough job, and there are days when a little extra love from a furry friend is just what you need.

Crumble was more than happy to shower nurse Ellie with affection, proving once again that animal snuggles are the best medicine.

And according to Crumble’s owner, Ellie has officially become her favourite nurse.

We’ll let you decide who was happier—Ellie or Crumble!

Wow! We can’t thank everyone enough for making our first community dog walk a huge success!

The support from our amazing community blew us away. To everyone who joined us on a sunny Sunday morning, it was a joy to share the day with you and your furry friends.

Special thanks to LCA Pet Supplies for supplying some wonderful natural treats, Paws and Claws Brackley for the biscuits, and to NVS Group and IMS Euro Ltd, for their generous contributions. A huge thank you to Kate at inspiring tails for designing and making the fab bandanas.

This was a true community effort!

We’re so proud of the Taylor Vets community!

If like some of our staff, you're gutted you missed out, stay tuned—another walk might be on the way!
