We shall remember all who served, including those with paws 🐾

As we remember the sacrifices of the brave troops that fought so bravely for freedom on D-Day, we feel it's necessary to pay tribute to the fearless animals of war.

During D-Day, and the battle for Normandy, British airborne forces used parachuting dogs. They were trained, much like modern police and military dogs, to sniff out landmines, b***y traps and explosives and to search for friend and foe alike.

Pictured is Private Emile Corteil and his dog Glenn. Both parachuted into Normandy and landed safely, but were tragically killed by friendly fire from an RAF Typhoon fighter bomber on D-Day.

Glenn is buried with Emile in the Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery at Ranville.

Please join us in taking the time to remember all that was sacrificed 80 years ago today 🐾
