Here you can see a dog licking their lips, it can mean a number of things:
- they may be worried or anxious
- they may be submissive
- they could be apologising
- it could be anticipation or excitement

Here I think given the face as well it is likely to be anticipation or excitement. Having an understanding of our dogs behaviour can be really helpful to be able to understand how they are feeling so we can respond appropriately.

Engagement for activities is so important, if your dog is engaged on a walk and providing eye contact as well as sitting and responding to you both your pup and you will enjoy walks more. You will be able to train and develop your dogs skills.

snuffle mats are a great enrichment activity. In sessions with dogs I like to use a range of activities to keep their minds active, particualrly in the warmer months when it is too hot for a lunch time walk.
Main benefits include:
- sensory enrichment
- slow fast feeders
- encourage natural instincts
- reduce anxiety
- distraction for pets recovering from injury or illness
-effectively burn energy

Pack walks help dogs with social skills, helps with stimulating walks and learning new skills such as climbing! great for dogs big and small! 🐾🐶🦴

We often have a sit and wait until release in our walks, this helps the dogs to listen and focus and also rest. It means the dogs are in control, they wont be off running out of sight or to other dogs.

Mental health awareness this week an important week to check in on friends and family providing them opportunities to talk about any worries or concerns. What we know about pets is they provide us with many opportunities to take care of our mental health. They're always there to support us when we need them. They know when we're down. They provide us opportunities to get out and about and be social. Pets give us a reason to get out of bed. They make us feel loved. Take care this week everyone and check in on friends and family 🐾❤🐾

National be kind to animals week
I am an animal lover and my daughter too. We love all animals, dogs in particular. Just a reminder to everyone love your animals. Lots of dogs have been illtreated before going to rescue centres to be rehomed, many I work with are rehomed rescue pets. Things I have read and things I have seen in animals behaviour based on traumas they have experienced always makes me sad. So hug your loved pets for me extra hard today

This month is pet cancer awareness month, this gorgeous girlie is Georgia she was diagnosed with cancer and unfortunately it was caught too late, greyhounds are more likely to get osteosarcoma (bone cancer) what it taught me was how important it is to get animals seen quickly if they demonstrate anything out the ordinary. Sending big hugs to all your pups.

National kids and their pets day! pets are great for children and I know my dog loves his small human. Closer to their height means more likely to get snacks and better cuddles. It is important to teach children how to behave around animals and the best ways of showing love. My daughter loves to make treats for the dogs I walk!

This week marks dog bite prevention week, training your dogs can lead to a reduced risk of biting. Understanding your dog and their behaviour will assist you in being able to determine what they are telling you so you're able to respond to how they are feeling and meeting their need. All dogs are different and can tolerate different interactions from different dogs at different time. Seeking support to understand your dog can be helpful and getting tips on how to meet your dogs needs so they are able to live a full and happy life to the best of their abilities.

Lots of dogs I work with on reactivity have achieved so much in short spaces of time and proud of each of their developments as well as the progress their owners have made!

splashing in water is great fun, now its getting warmer the dogs love water to cool off in, its refreshing and different dog breeds enjoy spalshing than others but those that love to be in the water do smile!

Today is dog fighting awareness day, highlighting this as it is cruel and want to be aware that this still does on for entertainment or gambling. I think the best way to challenge this is to show the kindness that dogs offer instead as their natural behaviour is love and be thankful for all the loving dogs!

April is adopt a greyhound month. So with that in mind I want to share with you how these beautiful animals make lovely pets. Adopting an ex-racing greyhound was the best thing I had done and continue to have done. They are gentile giants who love a sofa or a bed and their people!

This in turn also supported me to support sighthounds in enjoying their lives and is why I love providing specific services for them particularly those who are new to meeting other breeds!
