Well this is exciting! Our lovely Ben has never run a marine tank - shocking I hear you all cry!

So we’ve let him loose on a Blue Marine 160!

Everything will be standard stock with the addition of a power head for more water movement. Rock work wise, Ben choose the beautiful centre piece 8 from Tropical Marine Centre ‘s EcoReef range and a second piece for the other side. He’ll get it running today then will follow the Red Sea reef mature programme over the next 21 days.

Aim is to have a lovely biodiverse beginners tank stuffed full of our favourite zoas, a pair of clowns, maybe a gramma and a goby of sorts… we’ll keep you all updated as Ben starts his first salt water journey!

Rarest fish in the uk currently?!
We’re super excited right now to announce our new fish!

There are rare fish, just like the tank bred Gramma dejongi, Dr Seuss soap fish, Plectranthias peliceri and tank bred Conspic angels, all of which we have had in the shop over the last last year. But then there are really rare fish, and one of these is here at Reefkeeper Rugby!

As some of you may or may not know, Rory is a huge fan of grammas! He personally keeps a tank of Gramma dejongi with some hybrid Gramma dejongi x loreto, along with a group of Lipogramma klayi. These are all rare fish which are not commonly available within the hobby, but we think today we may have just topped all of these!

After asking Tropical Marine Centre, we were recently offered the chance to get hold of this absolute ‘grail of a fish’- the first and only in the UK. Gramma dejongi “platinum”, which is a captive bred dejongi with the twist of the typical magenta marking replaced with a white colouration. Come and see this absolutely stunning fish for yourselves….. 😍
