I found a little friend sleeping on the daisies this morning 🐝

Has anyone else noticed a decline in the number of insects they’ve seen this year? I’ve seen plenty of bees and ladybirds, but only a handful of butterflies and hardly anything else.

The weather has been good for flowers this week and I had lots of lovely blooms to choose from when harvesting today 💐 it’s been a tough few weeks with this rain wrecking havoc on my ranunculus and anemones (they do NOT like having their roots wet) but with a lot of love and TLC they seem to have pulled through and are finally sending up some lovely flower stems. I really thought my whole crop was falling at one point so PHEW, what a relief!

The honesty stand will be open tomorrow (Friday 12th) from 8am so come and grab some flowers for the weekend.

I started a few seeds this week; foxgloves and some (more) snapdragons. I think starting seeds is one of my favourite things to do. All that hope and life in such teeny tiny seeds. Although remind me of that in a few weeks time when I’ll juggling literally hundreds of teeny seedlings and keeping them all alive !

You all loved the snapdragons last year so you’ll be happy to know that I’ve got lots of variety’s planned for this year in alllll the gorgeous pastel colours (as well as a few brights like these of course) 💐

Patiently waiting until it’s time to sow some seeds. I mostly wait until mid February here, as there’s enough hours of daylight by then to help keep the seedling happy!

Chrysanthemums 💐 I grew lots of different varieties this year so I could choose which I wanted to continue growing for next years flower season…sometimes a plant catalog or looking at photos of a plant online isn’t enough and it just has to been tested out in real life.

Out of these ones here I’m going to keep in peach and the bright ones in the middle, and get rid of the pastel pink. That pink just isn’t quite the right shade for me!

And so the on-off-on-off-on of the frost protection begins 🥶

These are some of my fancy chrysanthemums hiding out under there. My new, larger growing space wasn’t ready in time to get them planted there, so instead they are living their best life in a raised bed in my back garden this year.
