This boy β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ holding out for the most perfect π‘
He would make an amazing therapy dog, amazing with children, super chilled.
I honestly can't fault this pup for his temperament. The perfect π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦ is out there and I'm just waiting for them to have the most amazing pup β€οΈ
Looking for a π‘. Male, needs active pet home. Super clever boy who needs stimulation and time. A lovely boy who needs someone knowledgeable and willing to put in effort. Basic training there and ready to be built on. Pop me a message if you are looking/ suitable
When you are just the cutest little pup. Meet luigi the Italian greyhound ππ
When you compare your dinosaur mali to a normal sized mali π€£π
It's not only large dogs we cater for. We do cater for little dogs too. These 2 are adorable and so much fun! #
When your emotional support hippo needs emotional support π€£π€£
Jokes aside, having a dog for therapy, emotional support, anxiety, to support children or adults etc you NEED the right dog.
A role as a working therapy dog is hard and buying a dog because of their breed is NOT the answer.
I have so many clients go out and purchase cockerpoos as they've read they are good for children with additional needs. When I see them, most are neurotic, resource guarding and anxious
Now I'm not saying this as a blanket statement that all cockerpoos are not suitable, but genetically, they need to be of a good temperament. This is the same for labradors, retrievers, shepherds. The dog has to be genetically sound for the job in hand.
Everyone must have seen the video with a malinois who was being trained. He ran off with the zimmer frame, bit the wheels on the wheel chair and played tug with the guys walking sticks. π€£π€£ Why? Because he wasn't right for the role.
Choosing a dog for the role you want is so
important. This isn't breed based, it's line based. One line of labradors isn't the same as another. Breeding is so important when looking for a dog to fill a job. The amount of dogs I see that are anxious, that have been bred from anxious parents. Like with people, genetics pass on! Early environmental training = confident pups if genetically they are sound.
So before you go and buy a dog based on breed, you need to think about temperament, working ability, Breeding lines, are parents sound, working, confident. Buying a dog because Google says it will be a good dog for children or adults is not always a success.
Being a therapy dog, takes a lot from a dog. Guiding people, grounding autistic children who try to bolt, deep pressure therapy, picking items up off the floor etc is a big task for a dog and they need to be able to cope with that important role. This is why choosing the right dog is so important!
Imagine having to collect a puppy after 24 hours the new owners say it's like having a new baby and too much and they want a full refund! π€¦π½ββοΈπ€¦π½ββοΈπ€¦π½ββοΈ
So this gorgeous boy is looking for a committed π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦ to call his own! If you know someone looking let them know. xx

Go Ramsey β€οΈ
Loving all the attention Halifax Agricultural Show
Lovely review for our swimming clients today β€οΈ
This Saturday Come and see us at Halifax show. Ramsey will be in the goat tent , waiting for treats π€£π€£
So this is not the view I want to wake up to π€£π€£ but let's talk about pets in bed!
A lot of owners say "I know I shouldn't let my dog sleep in the bed" "they will think they are top dog"
No dog is going to take over the world, or your house because they sleep on the bed!
HOWEVER, if you have a dog who isn't confident, has separation issues or resource guarding behaviours, this is not advisable.
If a dog guards a bed, person, object, space- no there should be no bed sleeping.
If a dog can not be left alone as you are their comfort blanket, no, there should be no bed sleeping.
I've seen a dog today who was in bed, and then super stressed when the owner left. By encouraging independence and confidence, we now have a dog that can be left while owners are at work. She's so much happier!
Don't feel guilty for your dog being on your bed. Just make sure its the right decision for the right dog. Xx
Session with this girl who has come so far in her training. She started all those months ago, being unable to concentrate for more than 20 seconds on anything. Her lead work, obedience, recall and behaviour around dogs has all been completed. Now to work on her anxiety around traffic and strange things. What better way than scentwork! She's been doing well at he training centre so today we headed out to do some real life. She struggled a bit with noisy traffic but she did well in the end, going back to the job we had given her. To find her kong piece. His owner has worked so hard with her and I'm so proud of their progress.
Had this gorgeous boy here this morning for some work around dog reactivity. A very busy little dog who needs some engagement with his owners. Lots of foundation work to do to start. Will see him again in a few weeks for stage 2.
Bit of a windy one for mantrailing but here we go.

We've had a cancellation at the end of August for boarding if anyone is needing a spot!
Just because my dog is off lead, doesn't mean he wants to play with yours!
I hear so many people say, if the dog is off lead I let my dog run over. I always ask why? An off lead dog may still not like other dogs. However if the off lead dog is under control, minding its own business, why is your dog allowed to run over into its space? It's no different to running over to an on lead dog.
Letting your dog off is bot a thing you do without knowing they will come back, YES, even from distractions!
For all the Karen's, obviously, in public, my dog would not be this far away from me. The video is to show a point in a secure field.
Also, YES, dogs can be off lead even if they don't want to interact with other dogs as they are under control and not up in your business.
Take some responsibility! Train recall and ensure your dog is not the rude one. No recall, keep that lead on!

My boy is amazing. But a few years back he retired with a spinal issue ( not that you would know as he's still living his best life, just slower)
Looking for a working dog who could replace such an amazing boy was hard, I found a few dogs but none ever were what I needed.
Then I got Drax.
Genetically he is there. This is why genetics play such a huge part when you buy a puppy. Knowing what you want and need is a must!
When looking at pups, people overlook genetics and this leads to potential problems later on. Buying a pup on looks, or because you feel sorry for him/her doesn't mean the dog is a right fit for you.
For example, first time on a bite suit, Drax has a full mouth bite, great grip and courage. This is something some dogs will train months for. Genetically he has it!
Collies who herd cars, dogs etc, it's their genetic makeup.
Labradors who make amazing gun dogs, genetics! I know loads who wouldn't even have the ability to work 10 minutes.
Spaniels and cockers, need a job. Working line dogs need a lot of training. Not just a ball throwing in the park. Just because they are small doesn't mean they are lap dogs...
Or and then the dachshund. The favourite lap dog. No, just no. These are little soldiers who become problematic as people sit them at home with little stimulation. These were bred to work!!!
When choosing a dog, think about:
πΎwhat you want from a dog
πΎ your time and what you can give training wise
πΎ if you have a young family, don't get a malinois and expect it to behave like you see in the movies π€¦π½ββοΈ
πΎ Genetically how is that dog bred? Are the parents healthy? Hip scored/elbow scored etc. All breeds have specific health tests. Check these out!
πΎAre the parents well rounded? Pups from anxious dogs are predisposed to being anxious. Just like our parents, we have traits from both. Dogs are no different. Dogs that are aggressive, anxious etc should not be bred from. This is part of the reason we see anxious 10 week old pups!
πΎ The breeder IS so important. Do they ensure pups are well rounded, socialised, handled? The first 8 weeks are so important. Mums who aren't present, don't tell pups rules and boundaries can cause problems later down the line.
πΎPoor diet, fighting siblings for food and lack of worming can cause issues around food.
πΎunder socialisation can cause fear in some pups.
There's so much to think about. So why do we go a buy a pup without knowing about the future implications?
This is why dogs end up in rescue, lack of planning, understanding and choosing the dog that's right for you.

We had a special guest at the pool. This boy was adopted from Helping Yorkshire Poundies - HYPS as a pup. You may remember the litter I Fostered. Bronx is deaf so his dad jumped in to help him get his water wings. He improved massively in the session and started to get the hang of swimming. A few more sessions and he will be a pro.
