🐾 First Stages of Behaviour Modification 🐶

Meet Monty 💙

He had his first session with me last week to begin working on his reactivity to other dogs. Behaviour Modification is complex, I need to be a detective, digging through all the information I get from their owners 🧐

I work with dog's holistically. Many components make up a dog's behaviour and each one needs to be explored. Below shows 10 areas I look into with every dog I work with.

1️⃣ Take a thorough history of the dog's behaviour and previous life experiences

2️⃣ Discuss dog's diet

3️⃣ Look at dog's medical history

4️⃣ Evaluate the dog's posture and gait

5️⃣ Break down dog's routine

6️⃣ Amount and type of exercise the dog currently getting and location it takes place

7️⃣ Equipment currently and previously used

8️⃣ Identify triggers that cause the dog stress, all of them, not just what I've been called in to work on

9️⃣ What previous training has the dog had

🔟 Are there any management strategies in place

Behaviour Modification isn't simply about stopping the behaviour we don't want. We need to fully understand the driver behind the behaviour for true behaviour change to take place.

Lovely to share stories with these lovely ladies today, always nice to support each other and help each other out ❤️🐾

When there wasn’t a boarding community…so I made one! 🐾

Today after months of messaging, becoming friends and helping each other, me and 6 other licensed boarders met! There are plenty more, but they couldn’t make it. Was so lovely to spend time together though with these lovely lot!

We are all licensed boarders, and all licensed boarders put a lot of work, time and money to ensure that your dogs are safe and happy.

I’ve finally got a phone with a working camera again! This week we’ve been back at Northcliffe park for the morning walk and enjoying the afternoons at The Secret Garden and Woofing Around 🐾🐾❤️

Well, I’m finally back to it! Thank you so much to all my wonderful customers for their understanding and support while I’ve been recovering from my broken foot. I’m back in my walking boots and carefully getting back to normal with the help of local secure dog walking fields. Thanks to my fellow dog walkers Karen, Mark and Bex for covering some of my customers for me and thanks to Spencer and my Dad for being my driver for the first few days.
