‼️ We have seen an increase in poisioning cases recently including Honey...

Honey was rushed to the surgery flat and unresponsive after consuming 13 ibuprofen tablets! At only 6 months old Honey's body was overdosed by an amount that would be toxic for an adult human!
Our staff worked hard getting intravenous access and placing her onto fluids, unfortunately we feared the worst, even if Honey did pull through there was likely to be long term organ damage.

We can only thank our amazing nursing team and a miracle....as less than 2 hours after being admitted to the hospital Honey lifted her little head and wagged her tail. Such a precious moment that we will all never forget ❤

Honey is doing really well and her blood tests so far have all been ok meaning there should be no long term damage but we will continue to keep a close eye on her.

We are often reminded to keep medicines and poisons out of childrens reach but please remember this is important for pets too!

We thought you might like to know how your money has been spent?

This is Skye she was found curled up, lying motionless in the snow by Derbyshire council after she was cruely dumped. You can read her full story below. Lucky for Skye she is now fully recovered, safe and warm with Lurcher Link.

The money you helped to raise and donated over Christmas at the surgery will be used to help care for Skye whilst she finds her furever home. THANK YOU!

If you would like to continue helping Lurcher Link with fundraising, donations and volunteer dog walking please contact [email protected]

New equipment at the surgery!

We are now in possession of an intravenous fluid warmer. This little gadget will ensure our patients do not become hypothermic.

Hypothermia is one of the leading causes of complications and even death when sick or undergoing a procedure under anaesthetic.

Other items we use to keep our patients warm include fan heaters, heated tables, bubble wrap, space blankets and even socks on ears and paws!

Our next pawtastic party will be on Saturday 1st March. Please contact the surgery to book your free place 01274 884065.

Barney came to a Puppy Party in Feb 2015 and is now back for his Senior check and Blood Pressure appointment ❤

It is such a pleasure watching our patients grow!

Sarah, our nurse, runs the Puppy Parties and Senior Health Clinics at the surgery and has been doing so since 2008. Seeing all these golden oldies like Barney coming back for their OAP checks is making her feel a little old 😆

Lily had these stones removed from her bladder!!

Lily's owners brought her to the surgery because she was struggling to pass urine. On examination our vet was able to feel these rather large stones in her bladder!

She was immediately admitted to the hospital for x-rays and surgery to remove them. Our super skilled surgeon, Sarah, was able to perform the life changing surgery. Lily is 11 years old so her recovery was a bit slower than we might have liked and her kidneys needed sometime to recover from the trauma, but we are really pleased to say Lily is now back at home living out her best years with mum and dad.

Bladder stones are formed when collections of mineral crystals combine together to form a stone. Although there is no single cause of these stones developing there are some factors which can contribute such as diet. Lily will need a special diet going forward which will prevent any more stones forming.
