Lily had these stones removed from her bladder!!

Lily's owners brought her to the surgery because she was struggling to pass urine. On examination our vet was able to feel these rather large stones in her bladder!

She was immediately admitted to the hospital for x-rays and surgery to remove them. Our super skilled surgeon, Sarah, was able to perform the life changing surgery. Lily is 11 years old so her recovery was a bit slower than we might have liked and her kidneys needed sometime to recover from the trauma, but we are really pleased to say Lily is now back at home living out her best years with mum and dad.

Bladder stones are formed when collections of mineral crystals combine together to form a stone. Although there is no single cause of these stones developing there are some factors which can contribute such as diet. Lily will need a special diet going forward which will prevent any more stones forming.

Thank You for Your Incredible Support!

💙This Christmas, we made a real difference!

💙 417 decorations were hung on our Memory Tree, with people invited to add their own, writing their pet’s name and a heartfelt message as a poignant tribute to those they have loved and lost. We donated £417 in their memory, alongside £261 in generous donations from our wonderful clients. That’s a total of £678 going to Lurcher Link Rescue to help dogs in need! 🐕

💙 Thanks to your kindness, we also collected and delivered pet food to Queensbury Food Bank, supporting local families and their furry companions over the festive period 🐾

You can read more about our Christmas Memory Tree appeal here: https://www.halifaxcourier.co.uk/news/queensbury-vet-practice-launches-festive-appeal-to-help-animals-in-need-4905259

Your kindness means the world to us and to those we’ve been able to help. Together, we’ve made a real difference. Thank you! 💙

It has been a challenge this week serving our lovely pets of Queensbury. Even emptying the compost bin 5 days after the first dumping of snow was like climbing everest 😆

Meet Little My and follow her story....

Little My is 13 years old, she could no longer be cared for by her owner and had no where to go. To avoid euthanasia our nurse, Sarah, took Little My in.

The first challange was catching her. After being in her home alone with no human contact for many months she was very frightened and had to be trapped in her cat box to allow her new journey to begin.

She spent the first 3 months constantly hidden under a bed only coming out in the middle of the night for food and to toilet. We did start to wonder if she would ever be able to over come the separation from her owner, home and all she had ever known. It was a little depressing to think she may not enjoy life like we had hoped.

However gradually she began to trust Sarah and her family and you can see from the pictures her slowly starting to become curious of her new surroundings and her new family, coming out from under the safety of the bed.

It is a very slow journey and one she is still navigating but Little My has come on leaps and bounds since the day she was moved to her new life ❤
