We moved into Moorfield in 2016
To start a new life and follow a dream
Of living a life in a quaint Scottish village
And bringing our boys up in this beautiful image
Then we discovered when we came to Braemar
That a wonderful lady who shone like a star
Had a holiday home 9 miles down the river
A house called Balmoral surrounded by Heather
Her family came to holiday too
In the hills that are green and the river so blue
And they welcomed their neighbours right into their hearts
From Crathie to Ballater and down to Braemar
And every year in September this great lady chose
To attend a great spectacle to roaring applause
The Braemar Gathering that she clearly loved dearly
As a long standing Patron of the Highland Society
And how we as a family would watch on the day
From our garden above as the pipers did play
And would wait for the sound of the 3 o’clock chime
To see her arrive exactly on time
In her beautiful outfits with hats that all matched
And the very wide grin she would instantly flash
And we loved that she sat at the end of our garden
With her family dressed up in the Royal Scottish tartan
But sadly those days have now come to an end
And the angels have gave her a new life instead
One with her Philip that will now last forever
And a brand new journey they both must endeavour
For us here in Braemar you will no longer be seen
But forever rest in peace our almighty Queen
