10.06.2024 💔 She is gone. My Poppy. Mummy doesn't have the words to convey the love my heart will always hold for you. You were everything. No one will ever understand our bond. It was just ours.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us on this cancer journey. Cancer is fu***ng s**t. Around 3pm today, after an afternoon playing with cousin Lily and having cheese treats with nannies, I took her home and suddenly, Poppy lost use of her remaining back leg, she cried out in panic n pain n lost use of her bowels. I rushed her to the vets, who said after a quick exam, they suspected a bloodclot in the leg. This is related to her lung cancer, and her leg was cold. Nothing was getting in it. They said they could do more extensive tests, but the outcome would probably be the same. I could hear her crying out the back and just asked for her to be brought to me. I promised her months ago that I'd never see her suffer or in pain. And so I said goodbye. I told her I loved her more than anything or anyone.
As the vet administered the medication, she stretched out n looked at me, I told her I loved her and watched the light leave her eyes. She is at peace. My heart is in a million pieces 💔 ♥️

😔POPPY UPDATE😔

Yesterday, we went back to DWR to look at the scan images and discuss options for my babydog.
I have had a week to process the news of the spread, to say it's been the hardest week of my life to date is an understatement.
I spoke at length and in detail with the oncologist about where we go from here. He was incredibly honest with me, which I needed.
There is no cure. My darling girl is dying.
I was given as much information as he had on treatments and their success rates.
"Success" being slowing down the existing tumours growth. But she doesn't just have 1 or 2, she has more than 10. In her tiny little lungs.
The metronomic/daily at home chemotherapy has shown "success" in only a few types of cancer (and that success rate is as little as 10/20%), we do not know what type of cancer Poppy has and at this point, it's futile to find out. She has months left. But if its not the type that has responded in their studies, then treatment is a drop in the ocean.
We have fought this disease with a flame thrower ever since I found the lump in June. We've done everything. I pushed for her leg to be amputated, the vets said it was extreme action at the time, he told me yesterday had I not done that - she wouldn't be with me today.
I have no doubt in my mind, I have done everything I can to beat this for her.

But enough is enough, I'm not putting her through any more treatment or trips to DWR. I will be treating her with daily metacam to keep her comfortable. I have thought long and hard and come to this incredibly difficult decision with the love and support of my family and friends. I will be spending whatever time she has left, spoiling her, taking her to her favourite places, getting her all the treats and meats she could ever want. She is currently showing absolutely no signs of being poorly, I've been warned that it can be a very sudden decline and what to look out for. We are as prepared as we can be.

I love you so much my monkey and if love could save you - you'd live forever ❤️

💔POPPY UPDATE💔

The cancer has spread. She has approx 10 blueberry sized tumours in her lungs and there is no cure. She has been given 3 to 6 months.
There is no word to describe the pain I am in right now. My heart has been ripped from my chest and I cannot process anything, especially a world without my monkey.
I do not have children, nor do I plan to, this tiny dog is my life, my world, my everything.
I am looking at her happy face but I am already grieving.
We are back at DWR on Tuesday to discuss low dose chemotherapy I can give her at home, to try and slow the growth of the tumours. The only silver lining in this absolute nightmare is the lungs do not have pain receptors, so she is oblivious to everything and not in any discomfort at this time.

I don't know what else to say I'm afraid.
My world is ending.

🎄POPPY UPDATE🎄

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Sorry I haven't updated for a while. There hasn't been a great deal to say (fortunately)
My Poppydog has continued to cope extremely well with her chemotherapy. She completed her 4th round at the end of November and still seems completely oblivious to everything she's been through.

My little warrior queen.

This update comes with hope but also stomach churning anxiety as tomorrow is "CT re-scan day". We will go to DWR for 9am in the morning and my girl is first on the list to get a chest and abdomen scan. This will show whether the cancer has managed to settle in her tummy or her lungs OR if the chemo has been successful and my darling doggo is all clear. The Oncologist will read the scan tomorrow and tell me if there is anything obvious, but an Imager also needs to officially read the scan to be certain - I'm not sure if this will be tomorrow or not.

Please keep my baby in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow and I will update as soon as I know more.x
