SUCCESS STORY: Hilda the Rabbit 🐇❤️
Hilda (formerly Pumpkin) was our longest-stay animal here at Danaher, spending 323 days in our care before finding her forever home at the end of July. 🏡
We’ve now had the most wonderful update from her family:
"As a strong confident woman, she needed a fitting name. We (our son especially) do like the graphic novel/Netflix series "Hilda" featuring a confident and adventurous girl named Hilda. So Hilda it was!
Yuki, our soppy, affectionate silly boy, has always been confident around humans and adores spending time with us. Having been hand-raised from just a few weeks old by our local RSPCA centre, and then living with us, he hadn’t had the chance to spend time with another rabbit before. We knew it might be a challenge to bond him, but we wanted to at least try.
Hilda, sadly, lost her baby bond with her brother a while back, so was living alone. She was initially considered not to be a good match for Yuki due to her personality.
After Yuki’s first blind date (bunny meet) with different girl did not go well, we were ready to pause bonding efforts for another year. But before leaving Danaher we thought, lets just give Hilda (Pumpkin) a chance?
To everyone's surprise, it was love at first sight for her. Hilda immediately gave Yuki flirty tail flicks, before laying and relaxing near him. She also then melted into a puddle under head rubs from her new humans. That was it, we had to have her!
Though we planned to let her settle in and get used to us before starting bonding, she seemed so sad after her first night alone. We moved some of Yuki’s items into her pen, and she instantly relaxed. That was it, they were living side by side. We followed a slow bonding process—scent swapping, pen swaps, and gradually increasing dates over three long weeks. Last week, they officially moved in together!"
