βοΈπ§ A6071 LONGTOWN TO BRAMPTON β CARRIAGEWAY RESURFACING π§βοΈ
ποΈ 2 August β 15 August 2026
Cumberland Council, in partnership with Connect Roads, will be carrying out carriageway resurfacing works on the A6071 between Longtown and Brampton as part of its ongoing highway maintenance programme.
These essential works are expected to take up to 14 days, subject to weather and site conditions, and will help extend the life of the carriageway while reducing the need for future repairs.
β° Working hours:
Daily, 8:00am β 8:00pm
The works will be carried out under a series of daytime road closures, with the scheme divided into sections to minimise disruption.
π Programme of works:
* 2β6 August: Bush-on-Lyne to Fir Ends
* 7β8 August: Fir Ends to Smithfield Crossroads
* 9β10 August: Smithfield Crossroads to Halfway House
* 11β12 August: Pump Cottage to Newtown
* 13 August: Cambeck Bridge to Crooked Holme
* 14 August: Irthing Bridge to Brampton
* 15 August: Brisco Hill to Longtown
β οΈ Alternative Route:
A signed diversion route will be in place throughout the project.
π Resident & Business Access:
Residents and businesses within each closure section will continue to be able to access their properties. Staff will be stationed at closure points and will es**rt vehicles safely through the works when conditions allow.
π² A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will BE MAINTAINED at all times.
π¨ Emergency Services:
Access for emergency vehicles will BE MAINTAINED at all times.
