So many of our lovely customers say they have nervous or reactive dogs. That is why they enjoy using the dog field for the confidence that their furry friend can run free without the stress caused by encountering the triggers for their anxiety or reactivity. I have started joining in with some walks now running on the island called Isle of Man Neutral Walks. The walk leader Eva organises mainly once a week walks in different locations. The walks are so that reactive dogs, such as mine, are walking with other dogs but at a respectful distance so the trigger is present but not such a threat. This way hopefully the trigger will become not such a trigger. Sometimes trainers will join the walks and give words of wisdom about things that can be done. You can try it for free, there isn't a charge to join the walks but there is a monthly subscription of minimum Β£5 for Honest Hounds, Eva will be able to give you all of the right information about this. If you are interested in either joining these walks or in getting more information, contact Eva on 341249. You'll be surprised how your decreasing world with your nervous / reactive dog can start getting bigger again. I'm really happy with the progress my boy is making and that's just after two walks.

We are receiving more than average complaints about people not moving out of the car park after their booked time has finished. Please ensure that you have vacated the car park at the dog field by the time your booking has ended. We are receiving more and more disgruntled complaints from customers who are having to wait in their cars past the start time of their booking because the previous people may have left the field but are still in the car park. A lot of dogs that use the dog field are nervous of strangers and cars and a lot of them can be reactive to this sort of scenario. If you are booked for example from 3pm to 4pm you need to have vacated the car park, not just the field, by 4pm so that the next booking can enter the field. Please be considerate to other users of the dog field, it is supposed to be a place of happy runny bouncy play time for both dog and owner, not a place of stress and frustration.

There was only one customer booked into the dog field today but while she was there someone else parked in the car park and the customers dogs were upset by their presence. Please respect our customers using the dog field. If you don't have a booking then don't use the car park. If you have a booking, which no one else did today, don't show up early and don't vacate your vehicle or let your dogs out of your vehicle until the other party has left the carpark.

If you use the 'in field' area through the large gate for letting your dogs out of your vehicle straight into the field please don't drive onto the soft muddy grassy area. Please stay on the hard area. Thank you.

Over the last week or so we have made frequent trips to the dog field. Unfortunately we have the same old 'bug bear' of wayward poos. So again we ask that you keep an eye on your wonderful bundles of love and waggy tails and pick up their poos so that the field is a lovely place for all of our wonderful customers. Could we also ask that you make sure the vehicle access big gate into the field is closed properly when you leave. Thank you🐾🐢

The booking system is still putting all bookings made via a phone as half an hour. I do correct them all as soon as I see them so please bare with me and I will get round to it.

Could everyone please remember not to show up early to their booking. If you show up and the previous booking is still in the field or carpark please remain in your vehicle until the previous booking has left the carpark. Please do not let your dogs out of your vehicle until the previous booking has left the carpark. Thank you.

There have been a few comments about uncollected poo in the field just lately. The perimeter seems to be ok but the middle section has been a problem. If our lovely customers could check the middle of the field as they walk round. Could we also ask that all gates are closed properly after you exit the field. We wouldn't want any escapees due to open gates. Thank you to all of our poo collectors who will collect ones that don't belong to them, it helps keep things a bit nicer. β€οΈπŸ˜πŸ•

The booking system is playing silly beggers. It is creating half hour bookings instead of hour bookings. Please bear in mind that all our bookings are for an hour and start on the hour i.e. 1pm 2pm 3pm not 1:30. If you have to book a half hour slot I will correct it. If it is for 1:30 or 2:30 for example, please message me with what time you want i.e. 1pm or 2pm or 3pm. I can then reschedule your booking. Thank you.

Happy February to all of our wonderful furry customers and of course their hooman buddies. February is here and the hope of spring and warmer weather is gathering speed. But there is no better way to warm up on cold days than a brisk walk, run and play at Oatlands Freedom Dog Field. The days are pulling out too so there is more time to take advantage of it (unless you have a really good torch πŸ”¦). And don't forget Valentine's day on the 14th, no better way to show your furry one that you love them than booking an hour (or even more) so that they can enjoy some off lead time. πŸ˜πŸ•πŸ•πŸ˜

Oatlands Freedom Dog Field wishes all of our customers old and new a very happy and peaceful Christmas and a pawfect New Year.

Christmas Day is booking up, the morning is booked already between 9am and 1pm. Give your furry friend a Christmas present of a run in the field.

It is that time of year again when people entertain themselves with flashes and bangs and whizzes and pops and bright colours flying through the sky. Some of our four legged friends aren't all that happy with this and need a bit of extra help to make them feel safe until it is all over. There are a few things you can do to help your pets like play music or the t.v. a bit louder so it masks the sound of the fireworks, give them a safe place so they can hide away. There are some relaxing products in the pet shops that may help too. The ManxSPCA page has a list of the commercial firework displays if you want to know when all of the noise and lights will be happening around you. They also have lots of lovely animals needing loving caring homes, I would have them all but already have my adopted pup from there and he wants to be the one and only. Have a look at the pictures and let some of them pull at your heart strings. Keep yourself and your bundles of furry fun safe this bonfire season.

The gates seem to be being left open just lately, could everyone please try to make sure they close all gates on leaving the field. Thank you 😊

We've had a few issues brought to our attention this week. Could we please ask that customers don't show up early for their bookings, that customers check that they are showing up on the right day and the right time, that they try not to overstay their time, that only canine animals use the items such as the agility equipment, that you try to clean up after your dog as much as possible and you don't leave rubbish in the field or parking area. We try to provide a pleasurable area for your dogs to be off lead should you wish so please help us to keep it that way for everyone.

Oatlands Freedom Dog Field is open late into the evenings and early mornings if you want to avoid the current warmer mid day temperatures.
