Sergi’s first little stint off lead.
Apologies for the rubbish video, he is difficult to keep up with.
How did we make it successful????
1) set him up for success and made sure there was minimal distraction
2) chose an area that was fairly small
3) kept it very short. No more than 5 mins to prevent any rehearsal of things we did not want.
4) PLAYED GAMES!!!!!!! Made sure we were super fun 🤩
Anyone wanting any help with recall training give me a shout.
Maybe if there is enough demand it might be worth a workshop or something similar
🤩🤩ORIENTATION GAME 🤩🤩
This one is literally my favourite game. Teaching your dog to look to you to get another fun experience. Amazing recall and proximity boost. Builds insane focus.
Here is Bobs attempt on the beach tonight. Not 100% perfect but he is doing very well 😀
Tried to post this a couple of days ago but Facebook was having a moment, hopefully it doesn’t appear twice now!
Teaching Bob side to grow some proximity and help with improving his lead walking. Very simple but very powerful game .
Whilst Bob settles we aren’t doing anything particular in training. Just letting him get used to us and start understanding how to take food as a reward.
This evening a bit of proximity training, putting value in being close to me. This is also very calm for him so it doubles up as some calmness protocol and rewarding having 4 feet on the floor (he likes to jump up a lot).
Does your dog get distracted by the environment? Do you find it difficult to get their attention?
Magic hand is exactly what is says on the tin, an absolutely magical game to boost your relationship with your dog and teach them to focus on you above all else.
Want to learn how to teach your dog this game, and when and how to play it to get the most out of your dogs focus? Along with some other games to kick start your journey in games based training
Does your dog struggle with recall? Or do they come back but stay at arms length so you can't get their lead back on?
Middle is a really powerful position. It teaches your dog that there is value in being close to you.
Warning.............. They can quickly become addicted to being so close and you just might get a surprise middle visit when you least expect it!

This second video is where we are now working!
All through games to grow disengagement from the environment and engagement with me 🤩
But she is a Collie, she is always going to want to chase sheep........................................
This first video is how Cassie used to react around sheep (sound warning if your dog doesn't want to hear her screaming 🤦♀️).
When it’s too windy to go for a proper walk what better to do than some fitness work indoors 🤩
Finally added some rear foot targeting. Something we have struggled with as Cassies awareness of her back legs is pretty poor. But it’s getting there and this was a huge improvement today. New technique has been a game changer on this one. 🥳

Then threw in some front foot targeting because she loves it!
Tried to move it on and add a pivot but as you can see she really struggles to move her back legs independently of her front.

Started with some platform work, building value in the platform and trying to get a nice square stand (harder than you think).
Added some slow sit, down and stand to build strength. Luring to try and slow Cass down but still could go slower.
