We began our business venture in 1976, and have since grown to be one of the major suppliers of Pet & Animal feeds in the Forest of Dean area. There is plenty of parking outside our store, you will find us on the main road travelling from Bream - Coleford.

Today, we pause to remember the bravery and sacrifices of all who served and continue to serve to protect our freedom—those past and present, human and animal alike.

On this Remembrance Day, we honor the soldiers who have fought for our safety and freedom, both those who have returned home and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. We also remember the remarkable animals who served alongside them: horses, dogs, pigeons, and even cats who played essential roles in delivering messages, detecting danger, and providing comfort.

These loyal companions displayed incredible bravery, standing by their humans on the front lines and offering comfort in the darkest hours. Their stories remind us of the courage and loyalty of animals, a bond that transcends time and brings light even in the most challenging moments.

As we hold our pets a little closer today, let’s take a moment to honor the courage, loyalty, and sacrifice of all heroes, great and small.

Today we had the pleasure of meeting Billy Bolt when he came shopping for a comfortable new harness - he was very well behaved while we sized him up, and earned himself a sausage for his troubles 🐶 🦮

When exploring the Forest of Dean with your dog, it’s important to be aware of some native plants that can be harmful to them. Here are a few key plants and why they’re dangerous:

1. ꜰᴏxɢʟᴏᴠᴇ (ᴅɪɢɪᴛᴀʟɪꜱ ᴘᴜʀᴘᴜʀᴇᴀ)

Description: A tall plant with striking purple or pink bell-shaped flowers. Commonly found in woodland clearings and along forest edges.

Why It’s Dangerous: All parts of the plant contain cardiac glycosides, which can affect your dog’s heart, leading to serious health issues or death if ingested.

2. ʏᴇᴡ (ᴛᴀxᴜꜱ ʙᴀᴄᴄᴀᴛᴀ)

Description: An evergreen tree with dark green needles and distinctive red berries. Often found in woodland areas.

Why It’s Dangerous: The needles and seeds contain toxic alkaloids, which can cause severe symptoms like tremors, difficulty breathing, and heart failure in dogs.

Description: A beautiful spring flower with vibrant blue-violet, bell-shaped flowers that form stunning carpets in woodland areas.

Why It’s Dangerous: The entire plant, particularly the bulbs, contains toxins that can cause vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort in dogs if ingested.

5. ʜᴇᴍʟᴏᴄᴋ (ᴄᴏɴɪᴜᴍ ᴍᴀᴄᴜʟᴀᴛᴜᴍ)

Description: A tall, umbrella-like plant with small white flowers, typically found in damp, shady areas such as near streams.

Why It’s Dangerous: Hemlock contains highly toxic alkaloids that can cause tremors, paralysis, and respiratory failure in dogs, even in small quantities.
