🚨🐾 DOG LOCKDOWN 🐾🚨

The temperatures are rising, and today is simply too hot for most dogs to be out during the day.

With temperatures reaching 32°C (feeling like 34°C), the risk of burnt paws, dehydration, and heatstroke is very real.

💧 Keep water available
🌳 Provide shade and cool spaces
🏠 Keep dogs indoors during peak temperatures
🌅 Save walks for early mornings or late evenings

Missing a few walks won’t harm your dog. Heatstroke can.

Let’s keep our pups safe, cool, and comfortable during this heatwave. 💚

☀️A little heatwave reminder from WagaMoo☀️

Today we’ve seen quite a few dogs out walking during the hottest part of the day, so we wanted to share a friendly reminder.

At the time of posting it’s currently 26°C with a UV index of 6, which may not feel extreme to us, but for our dogs it can be a very different story.

Dogs can’t cool themselves the way we do, and pavements can become much hotter than the air temperature, putting them at risk of burnt paws, dehydration and heatstroke.

💧 Keep fresh water available
🌳 Provide plenty of shade
🌀 Keep air moving with fans and ventilation
🧊 Use cooling mats, paddling pools or frozen enrichment treats
🌅 Save walks for early mornings and late evenings

Always check the pavement with the back of your hand before heading out

Missing one walk won’t hurt your dog. Heatstroke can.

Instead, enjoy some indoor enrichment, training games, snuffle mats, frozen treats and plenty of cuddles until temperatures drop. 💚

Please help us keep our four-legged friends safe during this hot weather. Share this post to help spread the word. 🐶☀️

!ANNOUNCEMENT!
After a lot of work, stress, tears and sheer hope we can finally announce our attendance at this years Vale of Glamorgan Agricultural Show!

Full circle of life from attending every year as a child to be able to provide on site services for our community 🐾

While the event is dog friendly, not all the spaces are, so if you want to eat without the puppy dog eyes staring at you, or want to go see the amazing livestock, then we will be there to book on site to give your pooch as many cwtches as we can while you’re away; they can also have their pick of our toy selection to take home!

We will also be launching our newest addition to the WagaMoo tree, WagaMove; a portable dog enrichment service which *fingers crossed* will be the first of many and on the road after its launch 🚀

Advanced bookings will be available from July 12th, however this number will be limited so we can cater to people on the day as well; further announcements will follow as to when this will be available.

We are also thrilled to announce a temporary staff member of the WagaMoo family, Juliet Bright, who aside from lending us a much needed pair of hands, will also be telling everyone how great we are and selling some copies of one of her children’s books “Maggie’s Great Escapes”, because when an author puts you in a book, you show it off everywhere you can!

None of this would be possible without the incredible support from Purple Shoots, such an amazing and caring team who are going to get sick of us thanking them all the time very quickly!

We love our little community and the extended pack we’ve built, thank you so much and see you August 12th! 💚

💚A Little Reminder From a Small Business💚

One thing many people don’t realise is that what may seem like a “small” payment can make a huge difference to a small business or sole trader.

Unlike large companies, we don’t have endless resources, dedicated finance departments, or large cash reserves. Every booking, every payment, and every invoice contributes directly to keeping the business running, maintaining services, paying bills, investing in equipment, and continuing to provide the level of care our clients expect.

At WagaMoo, we genuinely try to help wherever we can. We understand that life happens, unexpected situations arise, and finances can sometimes be difficult. We always aim to be approachable, flexible, and understanding.

However, flexibility only works when there is communication.

When messages go unanswered, payments are avoided, or agreements are ignored, it doesn’t just affect one booking—it impacts the business as a whole. Time that could be spent caring for dogs, supporting customers, and growing the business instead gets spent chasing payments and trying to resolve situations that could have been avoided with a simple conversation.

We want to continue supporting people from all walks of life, regardless of their circumstances, but that is only possible when there is honesty and transparency from both sides.

Please remember that while we love what we do and care deeply about the dogs entrusted to us, we are a business, not a charity. As much as we’d love to help everyone all of the time, we still have costs, commitments, and responsibilities that need to be met.

Thank you to the many wonderful clients who communicate openly, pay promptly, and support local businesses. You are the reason small businesses like ours can continue doing what we love. 🐾💚

🐾 CUSHING’S DISEASE IN DOGS – DOTTY’S STORY 🐾

Many people hear the words “Cushing’s Disease” and immediately worry about what it means for their dog. As one of our own dogs, Dotty, was diagnosed with Cushing’s, we wanted to share a little reassurance and awareness.

💚The good news? Cushing’s Disease is often treatable and manageable.

Dotty continues to live a happy, comfortable, and well-loved life. With the right veterinary support, monitoring, and medication where needed, many dogs with Cushing’s can enjoy years of good quality life.

What is Cushing’s Disease?

Cushing’s Disease occurs when a dog’s body produces too much cortisol over a long period of time. It is most commonly seen in middle-aged and older dogs.

Common Signs

🐾 Increased thirst
🐾 Increased urination
🐾 Increased appetite
🐾 Panting more than usual
🐾 Hair thinning or hair loss
🐾 Pot-bellied appearance
🐾 Reduced energy levels

Dotty’s Journey

When Dotty started showing some of the common signs, we sought veterinary advice. Following diagnosis and treatment, she has continued being the happy little lady we all know and love.

One thing we want owners to know is that a diagnosis of Cushing’s does not automatically mean huge veterinary bills or a poor quality of life. Every dog is different, but with appropriate treatment and regular check-ups, many dogs respond very well.

Our Advice

❤️ Don’t panic if your dog is diagnosed.
❤️ Work closely with your vet.
❤️ Keep up with monitoring appointments.
❤️ Focus on your dog’s quality of life.
❤️ Remember that early diagnosis can make a big difference.

Dotty is proof that dogs with Cushing’s can continue to be cherished family members, enjoying cuddles, adventures, treats, and all the love they deserve.

🐶 She’s a well-loved, well-cared-for little lady, and Cushing’s doesn’t define her.

If you’ve recently received a diagnosis for your own dog and have questions or worries, feel free to reach out. Sometimes hearing from someone who’s been through it can help ease those fears. 💚
