Love it when the freezers are fully stocked with Natural Instinct raw food, Betsy's Raw Food and Pooch H***h Bone Broth & energy bombs.

The new Betsy's tubs are so much nicer! I always prefer the cardboard, as I hate the amount of plastic that is involved in raw food manufacture (yes I know plastic can be recycled but still!) and these new Betsy’s tubs are so eco friendly and aren’t going soggy at all. Win!

Pooch H***h is still on offer for 5 bottles/packs for £16.50, as I’m positive that the sun is going to be back (despite todays horrendous weather ☔️)

I’m home for collections up until tomorrow morning, then away until Sunday eve. Next week I’m around from Monday - Thursday for all those that need a food top up for your dogs 🐕 🥩 🦴 🍖

With summer finally showing its face and the temperatures rising, our dogs are loving the regular access to Pooch H***h Bone Broth. All of the flavours seem to be a hit, and they enjoy it poured over their breakfast or by itself after a long walk or training session.

Bone broth has so many benefits for our dogs….

🍖 Rich in glucosamine, chondroitin & collagen, which contributes to good joint health.
🐶 Rich in anti-inflammatory amino acids which helps to support the liver to detoxify the body.
🥣 Promotes optimal hydration in dogs who are working hard, in hot weather, or those who have just had a bout of illness (specifically diarrhoea or vomiting)
🐶 Encourages fussy eaters and those dogs who don’t drink enough.
And sooooooo much more….

All Pooch H***h Bone Broth is made in Wales, with fresh locally sourced bones, vegetables and home grown herbs. Served in 250ml resealable, recyclable bottles that are freezer safe.

The saying time flies when you’re having fun is certainly true!
I can’t believe it’s been 2&1/2 months since I closed the doors for the final time at the Grooming Parlour, and I’m now 2 months in to my role in our family business, Karma Fitness 💪🏻

I thought an update post was certainly due! Competition seaaon is in full swing right now, and since April we have competed in Holland representing Wales at The FitPaws World Agility Open Championships, where my one dog Moosey brought home a bronze medal in the Speedstakes 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

The weekend after arriving home we travelled to Nottingham Championship to compete, and Moosey won the Champ ticket (one of the highest accolades in British agility) to qualify us for Crufts next year!!! Literally a dream come true for us, as getting to Crufts in agility is not an easy feat, but we’ve already secured our place for March 2025 🏆

Then last weekend we competed at the The CSJ Agility Open and my dog Kefira won her place on to the 2025 Welsh Team for another year competing in Holland next May! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Life is busier now than ever with the new job, Team Wales & Team GB agility commitments, family life, teaching agility, Osh & the dogs and competing all over the country every weekend, but I wouldn’t change it for the world!
Working from home means I’m spending so much more time at home in our little dream house with Kert, Osh and the dogs which makes me so happy, so I know I made the right decision after all.

I am still a stockist of natural treats, raw food and Pooch H***h, all of which can be purchased and collected from my home in Pencoed, I will at some point sort a website, but for now, you can always message me on this page ☺️

Collection is available during the days and evenings, and we can prearrange a half hour time slot before you come.

I plan to try to be available during the following hours, but this may change weekly if I have training days, so always best to pop me a message beginning of week when you’d like to collect 🙂

Tuesdays & Wednesays between 9:30am-2:30pm and 4:30-7pm

Thursdays 2:30pm-4:15pm

If you’d like specific flavours and amounts/costs, just let me know and I can put this together for you in readiness for collection.

Payment can be made via bank transfer before hand or on my card machine on collection.

I try to keep everything in stock but it is dependent on my stockists and how many orders I’ve had that week also.

Any questions please just ask 🐶

Indications that your dog could do with a massage:

🔹 ‘Twitchy’ skin when petted/groomed
🔸 Intermittent lameness
🔹 Diagnosed conditions (dysplasia, arthritis etc)
🔸 Stiffness/fatigue
🔹 Change in behaviour - reactivity/anxiety (could be pain related)
🔸 Performance issues
🔹 Struggling to do usual activities (jump in the car/sofa etc)

Some dogs are great at masking discomfort and have a really high pain threshold. If your dog is showing any of the subtle signs above, they will benefit from a massage treatment 🫶

A busy weekend of training for us and our dogs.
Yesterday we travelled to Derby for our first official TeamGB training day, in preparation for the European Open in August 🇬🇧
Then today, we were in Bristol for our final WAO Team Wales training before we head out to The FitPaws World Agility Open Championships in Holland in 3 weeks time 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
It’s a super busy time for us, and so many hours spent on the road, but the training and preparation is certainly worth it, and the dogs love it just as much as us.

We have our amazing sponsors behind us every step of the way, and hugely appreciate their support.

Ever thought of trying a raw fed diet with your dog? Or are you already a raw feeder?
So many people have a misconception about what raw feeding really is. What's some of the craziest things you've been asked or told about raw feeding.....

A lot of the common ‘myths’ of raw feeding dogs are quite ‘out there’…

- Makes dogs aggressive and blood thirsty… 🙈😂 (it really doesn’t!!)

- Salmonella alert…. 🧼
Surely when handling raw meat, it’s obvious that you should wash hands and surfaces/bowls fully afterwards?
Raw food companies go through vigorous safety checks, to meet the high industry standards.

- Expensive… 😑
A 10kg dog can be fed a complete diet for as little as £22 a month

- Complicated…. 🤔
With all the complete raw feeds on the market these days, it’s as simple as defrost, weigh out, serve…easy!

- Need a huge freezer 🥶
Don’t get me wrong, when you have multiple dogs like me, having a chest freezer specifically for the dogs is definitely a benefit. But the tubs are similar size to the average pack of mince from the supermarket, and raw is so easily accessible these days if you want to buy weekly.

-Feeding bones is dangerous 🦴
Contrary to popular belief, it is cooked bones are dangerous, not raw. Cooked bones can splinter, posing a significant risk. Raw bones are softer and safer.

Have you ever read the ingredients list of your dog’s kibble, if you haven’t, maybe you should…. I can guarantee that there’s probably quite a few ingredients on there that you don’t even recognise, and it’s likely you’ll be surprised at the meat content! 😢

I currently stock Natural Instinct and Betsy's Raw Food. If you’d like more information on raw feeding, I’m more than happy to help and advise. Your dog will thank you for it 🐶

Nobody tells you how quickly dogs age… How one day you wake up and suddenly their face is all white.
Or how their eyes start to seem more milky than before, or how you have to call their name a few more times than you used to.
Everyone says not to blink if you have children or you'll miss out. But what about the dog that was there with you before your children were even thought of?
The dog that was by your side before you even found love.
Nobody tells you to cherish every moment you have with them....
Cherish the dog. The one that's been there by your side through every breakup, followed you as you bounced from home to home. The one that sleeps in your bed and keeps you from feeling lonely.
Cherish him, because one day you'll take him on a walk and he'll get tired before you, and you'll realise just how many years he's been walking beside you.... 💕🐶

That’s all folks!
22 years of grooming done and my scissors & clippers are now officially retired, and the grooming parlour is now closed.

Please keep following this page as it will stay open for the natural treats and raw food side of my business, which will still continue, as well as updates on my dog agility and training.

I can not thank all of my loyal and lovely clients who’ve supported me over the 22 years, through the highs and lows, through the busy times and quiet times, following me from PetsAtHome to Porthcawl to Brackla and back to Porthcawl again!
Without your support, my business could have easily failed.

Thanks to the old and new owners of TyGwyn kennels where I’ve been based for the past 14 years. If it wasn’t for the previous owners Olive & Tony, I don’t know where I’d be now, and then when TyGwyn was sold on, the new owners were more than happy to keep me on, which meant so much to me.

Cannot thank my husband enough for supporting me through everything, and encouraging me to take this opportunity to retire from grooming and follow my dreams.

I am so so thankful to everyone over the years, and will miss seeing my regular customers, some of which have been with me from the very start (albeit on dog number two or three now) It’s been hard saying goodbye to so many of you over the past few months, but there is no regret or sadness in the decision, only excitement.

Now to concentrate on my dog agility career and training, which I am so passionate about and absolutely love.
I’m so excited for what the future holds 🐕 🤩

Happy Easter everyone!

Have the best weekend, but please remember to keep those chocolate eggs and hot cross buns out of reach from your dogs 🐶
Keep them busy with a long lasting natural chew instead.
Why not grab a bag of little training treats, and make them an Easter treat hunt of their very own around the garden or house 🐣

Every year sheep and lambs are injured and die after being chased and attacked by dogs. This is distressing for both farmers and dog owners.

After months of travelling back and forth to Derby to prep for and compete in the TeamGB tryouts, I’m so proud to say that these three amazing beauties have all been chosen to be part of the 2024 Agility TeamGB!!! 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

Couldn’t be prouder of them all!
This will be Copernicus’ second year as part of TeamGB. And at just 3 years of age, both of our youngsters Maroochy & FunkyDuck have been chosen, which is super a huge achievement at such a young age.
My husband Kert will be running Cop & Duck, and I will be running Moose (Maroochy) so it’s a real family affair and can’t wait to experience it together 😍

Lots more hard work and prep ahead now. What a perfect time to be retiring from the Grooming Parlour! 😂

The support our sponsors have given us over the past few months has been so so important to us getting here, we can’t thank them enough.

On 10th April, the Grooming Parlour will be closing its doors for the final time.

After almost 22 years in business, it’s time for me to hang up the scissors & clippers, and take early retirement from grooming, so that I can put more time into my passion as a Dog Agility instructor and competitor.

The natural treats and raw food side of my business will still continue, and hopefully I will have a website set up for that in the future months.

I can not thank all of my loyal and lovely clients who’ve supported me over the 22 years, through the highs and lows, through the busy times and quiet times, following me from PetsAtHome to Porthcawl to Brackla and back to Porthcawl again!
During Covid times were so so hard on small businesses and I was unable to work for months, but then support came through my natural treat, raw food and doggy gift boxes. Without that support, my business could have easily failed.

Thanks to the old and new owners of TyGwyn kennels where I’ve been based for the past 14 years. If it wasn’t for the previous owners Olive & Tony, I don’t know where I’d be now, as they built me the grooming hut at TyGwyn when PetsAtHome ceased all lease agreements on the grooming franchises with very little notice. Then when TyGwyn was sold on, the new owners were more than happy to keep me on, which meant so much to me.

I am so so thankful to everyone over the years, and will miss seeing my regular customers, some of which have been with me from the very start (albeit on dog number two or three now)
But the time has come to move on, and I’m excited for what the future holds 🤩

We’re back up in Derby again this weekend for the final weekend of the Agility Team GB selection process.

The girls have had their massages from Ellie at ESP Canine and Equine Massage Therapy to ensure there’s no niggles, we’ve had our delivery from our amazing sponsors Pooch H***h Bone Broth and The Dogs Butcher, and we’ve done everything we can do to prepare ourselves.

No matter what happens in this final weekend, I couldn’t be prouder of both of my girls, Kefira & Maroochy, for getting down to the final 34 dogs in our height category in Britain. We’ll certainly give it our best shot to try to prove what we can do together.

When I started this sport/hobby 11 years ago, I never dreamed of the places it would take me and the experiences it would lead to. Nor did I dream of my hubby joining me on the ride, and becoming just as passionate and addicted to the sport as me! 💜
And now it is also a big part of my career, with me being the Welsh Team manager, running Phoenix Agility Club, and teaching regularly as well as travelling to run agility workshops. I’m massively passionate about this sport, and our involvement in it with our dogs, and I absolutely love it and excited for what the future holds 😍

⚠️ Today is Pet Theft Awareness Day!

Dog theft is soaring, with an estimated 4,403 dogs stolen in 2023.

Don't let your dog become a statistic!

Here are essential tips to safeguard your furry friend:

🚨 Constant Supervision: Most thefts occur when dogs are left alone in gardens or cars. Keep an eye on your pooch!

🚨 Fortify Your Garden: Add a padlock to your gate and a doorbell camera for extra security. Ensure your fences are sturdy.

🚨 Be Car-Smart: Prefer leaving your dog at home. If you must travel with them, use a lockable crate and choose safer parking spots.

🚨 Beware of 'Pet Flipping': Thieves may change your pet's appearance and microchip, making recovery harder.

Just about recovered from our time away at Crufts last week 💚
If you’ve never been, I’d honestly highly recommend it! The biggest dog show in the world, with every breed you can think of, and soooooooo much shopping!
The showcasing of all the different dog sports you can get into with your dogs is one of my favourite things, with agility, flyball, rally, obedience, and even hoopers demos this year.

I played the role of super groom this year for hubby and our dogs, Funky Duck & Copernicus. First time there for Funky competing, and Cop’s second year there.
It’s not an easy feat to qualify for crufts, we travel the country every year, competing against hundreds of other dogs in hope to qualify for the biggest British event in our agility calendar.
Kert got through to the final 6 with Funky for the Novice Cup, and he was the highest placed Welsh person in the Welsh KC Champ show, qualifying him & Cop to be the ones to represent Wales in the International Invitation 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Just being there is a huge achievement in itself, but Kert & Cop smashed it in the international placing 3rd against all of the different countries in the event!! To say I’m a proud wife is an understatement! 😍

Now to start traveling the country again, trying to qualify for 2025 Crufts! 🏆

Sadly Nurture them Naturally Ltd, one of our raw food suppliers is having a tough time at the moment (like many small businesses) and have decided to stop trading for a while, in order to re-organise the business in hope to re-launch, with new products, deals and a more up to date approach to raw feeding.

So unfortunately due to this, I will not be able to get anymore NTN stock for the time being once my current stock is sold.

We do also stock Betsy’s Raw (very similar in texture & flavour choice) as well as Natural Instinct, so there will still be raw food options available to you 🍖

🥎Ball throwers!
⁉️They're great right?
🥎 They save you bending down.
🥎 You don't have to pick up and carry wet, slobbery, slimy balls!
🥎 It's the only way you can tire out your energetic pooch!

❓ But at what cost?
🐾 Repeatedly throwing a ball can cause long lasting joint problems, sprains and strains and early onset arthritis.
🐾 Chasing after the ball at full speed then coming to an abrupt stop can tear dew claws and graze the carpal pad (stop pad).
🐾It can also escalate behavioural problems in breeds with obsessive tendencies, such as collies and spaniels.
👮‍♀️We don't wish to be the fun police, playing with toys with your dog builds bonds, the interaction you both have is fun.
❓ Think about other ways of playing with the ball rather than just throwing it constantly? Get your dog to sit & stay whilst you go ahead and hide the ball in the grass / behind a tree. Then send them to go find. Or randomly drop the ball whilst you are walking and send them to go find.
🧠👃 Engaging their brains and allowing them to sniff, mentally tires them out. This can be more beneficial than just physical activity.

If you do have a dog that is showing signs of pain, is elderly and slowing down
