Morning everyone, so we are off to Scotland this coming weekend for the Highland Show and will be back earlier July so now taking bookings for the next South East run and South West . Morning everyone, so the North run is getting busy and we are planning to leave now last week of the month , therefore closing the diary Sunday the 17th so please let me know asap if you would like to be included , although we can sometimes fit people in and there are often availability if you can travel to coordinators sometimes it’s difficult to accommodate people last minute if they are a long way off the route. 😊

Well done Zana snd James, this could have ended very differently and what an awful experience, good job you are both so brave. We had a dog attack at our field the other day and I sadly lost my boss sheep and boss alpaca who tried to take it in defending their companions. I’m not a dog hater just people who can’t control them , there’s no bad dogs , just stupid people !

The bravery award goes to this fella, Caphouse James.
Yesterday he was having a solo ride out when a dog came flying at him barking and snapping. James leapt in the air and I was quick to spin him on landing and trot straight at the dog. This will have the dog turn tail and run back to the owner and avoid a bolting moment with dog snapping at your heels. It would have worked text book too as we had the dog on the run until the owner, instead of catching said dog started shouting which made the dog feel he had back up from his human so he turned and came back at us. Another leap in the air was sat out and again I kept riding James at the dog. The dog was relentless and kept coming at us trying to get behind us to chase us and we kept turning and riding him down. It was exhausting but James instead of continuing to feel the initial terror, felt my anger and started to get pretty pi**ed off with the dog too. In the end he was pinning his ears back and trying to stomp on the dog. The dog was too quick unfortunately because a good clout might have been the best lesson. Luckily we were nearly home and my brother was working outside and heard the ruckus and came running to the rescue with a big stick. The dog owner was doing nothing and hadn’t even caught up her second dog who had initially been very scared so I had two dogs surrounding us. Only one was aggressive though. Without Matt’s help I’m not sure how long me and James would have been at it for! Anyway, brave boy James got lots of fuss and will have a well deserved day off today. At least he learned not to be afraid of barking dogs as there’s a lot of them about and most are just noise. But the day could have turned out very differently. There could have been a rider on the floor and a bolting loose horse chased for miles by that out of control dog. And then long term a traumatized horse and rider. Luckily me and James who is only 4 this year and freshly backed had our brave pants on and no one, not even the dog was hurt. Though I think my brother wanted to clock it one with that stick 😂😂.
