Will a harness make my dog pull?! 🚫🐾
Let’s set the record straight! 💥
Harnesses don’t cause pulling – dogs who have not been taught to walk nicely on lead do. Using the right harness paired with consistent training can actually make loose lead walking really successful! 🌟
👀 If your dog pulls on the lead, don’t ditch the harness! Instead, focus on teaching them how to walk politely by your side.
💡 Pro tip: A well-fitted Y-shaped harness allows your dog to move freely and comfortably while you train loose lead skills. Pair it with short, fun training sessions to see real progress! 🐾✅
Drop a 💬 below if you’re ready to tackle the pulling struggles for good, I’d be happy to help! OR if you’ve got a fave harness recommendation to share! 🚶♀️✨
Check out this awesome video from someone who’s had one of the attachable “Trailfinder Lights” 💡👏🏼
That extra bit of safety for those dusk/dawn walks now the nights/mornings are darker! See you dog from a distance or just increase their visability if you are doing on lead pavement walks after dark 🙏🏼✨
We have a few left if you would like to order one, drop us a message and I can deliver to Bridgnorth & surrounding villages 📮

Have you used TOYS to recall your dog? 🐶🐾
Have you used toys to recall your dog? If not, WHY not?
Toys can be a great way to make your dogs recall fun & exciting. Having a ‘high value’ recall toy can really strengthen your dog’s urgency to come back to you when called. For some dogs food out on walks isn’t all that exciting…
I know for my own dog Bonnie a tug toy was revolutionary when we were initially training her recall 👏🏼
If you want to check out the Tug-E-Nuff toys I mentioned in the video here’s a link to shop: https://tug-e-nuff.co.uk/?ref=thebridgnorthdogclub

🐾🐶 Fun Dog Training Classes 🐶🐾
Although we're usually at Bridgnorth Club on Wednesdays for training night, last night we went on a *training class trip* around the town, practicing some of their training in & around more distractions!
I'm super proud of every single one of them, it's not easy training around other dogs, people, cars, boats, birds & all the different smells, BUT this is real life! 👏🏻
We looked at: loose lead training, focus while moving, recall, distance handling & settling in different areas!
Well done everyone 🎉🎉
3 WAYS TO *IMPROVE* YOUR DOGS RECALL 🐶🐾
1. Recalling your dog throughout your walk: try to avoid just using your dog’s recall cue at the end of the walk or when you need to put the lead on due to a distraction. Instead make a point of recalling your dog randomly throughout the walk, this will keep them guessing & also build the value in your recall cue.
2. Reward your dog if they come back to you or checkin without you having to ask: this is an amazing way to strengthen recall for your dog as they will start associating coming back to you as a really good thing. Don’t ignore those automatic check-ins!!
3. Ask for an alternative behaviour that involves your dog having to come back to you, to just a standard recall: for example “middle” or even a “hand touch” both of these behaviours involve your dog coming back to you to complete!
Hope you find these 3 tips super helpful & can start implementing them on your dogs walks 👏🏼👏🏼
IF you would like any further guidance/help we have 3 spaces left on our next in person Recall Workshop on Sunday 18th August OR you can schedule a 121 session with myself to cover recall training 🙏🏼🐾

Did you know that “middle” can be used to recall your dog? 🐶🐾
This is one of Bonnies favourite ways to recall, and a positive to this is she’s in the perfect spot for me to clip her lead back on if I needed to!
Have you taught your dog “middle”? 👀
