❗️Here is the gorgeous Joshie enjoying some Photobiomodulation❗️
(Otherwise known as LASER, cold or low-level LASER therapy).

🐢🐰This is just one of All Paws & Equines electrotherapy modalities that may be used when treating your animal🐴🐱

❓What does it do❓

Photobiomodulation is the process of using red or near-infrared light which provides electromagnetic radiation in the form of photons.

Research has found that when tissues within the body absorb energy from these photons physiological responses occur.

Photobiomodulation has been shown to be beneficial for.....
βœ… wound healing
βœ… bone and cartilage repair
βœ… arthritis
βœ… ligament and Tendon conditions
βœ… pain relief
βœ… neurological lesions
but we have to be careful when treating....
❌ animals with rapidly dividing tissue such as pregnancy, cancer or growing animals with open growth plates.

We use our LASER and other electrotherapies as part of a multimodal approach when treating our patients along with manual therapies and exercise prescription.

So proud of my sponsored rider (Isla Jones) today winning her first pony club race on Joshie🐎

Joshie is a very special pony who I love treating ❀
Several months ago Joshie was diagnosed with hock arthritis which was causing secondary discomfort in his back and other compensatory pain elsewhere πŸ˜”
Joshie has previously tried to tell riders he was in pain which like a lot of ponies landed him with a reputation of being a "naughty" pony πŸ˜’
When Joshie anticipates he's going for a gallop he will still sometimes buck. This could be a pain associated memory. Ponies like Joshie are quite often misunderstood but thankfully Isla is fantastic with himπŸ’ž

Between treatments Isla is brilliant at following the exercises, massage and stretches I have given her and all the hard work has today paid offπŸ‘πŸ‘

Well done Isla and Joshie πŸ†πŸŽπŸ’™

Our members will have covered topics such as in-depth anatomy, neurology, orthopaedics, physiotherapy and much more. They are skilled in clinical reasoning and the application of a treatment programme designed for the individual and therefore do not just use prescriptive programmes

For further information on course content, you should contact the universities delivering a veterinary physiotherapy degree course directly

Say hello to the gorgeous Stevie πŸ’™

🐈 Stevie is a lovely 21 years young, blind rescue cat.

🐈 All Paws Vet Physio has been treating Stevie for suspected osteoarthritis.

🐈 Domestic cats can often be overlooked when it comes to osteoarthritis due to being very stoic; but luckily for Stevie his owners are brilliant at recognising changes in his mobility and behaviour.

🐈 Stevie is currently not keen on manual therapy but is happy to receive Photobiomodulation (laser therapy) to ease pain, reduce inflammation and restore metabolism of damaged cells.

🐈 Stevie is already showing some improvement and hopefully once he is feeling more comfortable he will allow us to begin some manual therapy

Your dogs muscles do amazing things!

Not only do they facilitate movement enabling your dog to do all the awesome things they do, muscles are extremely important for joint stability.

Lets talk about canine massage! πŸ•πŸΎ

Massage is a form of manual therapy used during physiotherapy treatment to provide a number of benefits......

βœ… pain relief
βœ… aids recovery from surgery/injury
βœ… reduce stiffness and improves mobility
βœ… improves flexibility and elasticity
βœ… increases blood flow
βœ… enhances cell regeneration and improves skin quality
βœ… induces relaxation and reduces anxiety
βœ… reduces swelling
βœ… breaks down scar tissue
βœ… improves performance
βœ… reduces spasm, trigger points and myofascial pain
βœ… stimulates damaged nerves

It is imperative to look after your dogs muscles so they can continue to enjoy their life to the fullest!

If you think your dog could benefit from massage please get in touch for more information 🐾
